I'm thinking the LT808's will be fine due to the photo of this Mk4 MR-T mounted in them on the AR15 on this thread. The front ring is mounted out on his rail, but with a 308 AR I'm not sure that would even be a problem. The receiver rail on a 308 AR is approximately 6.5" long, whereas the rail space on a 15 is about 4.8" long. An extended mount might not be necessary for my purposes, but I'll confirm before I buy.

Im running mine in a Larue SPR LT104. Everything is rock solid so far.

it's fine. but understand this is a FFP scope. the reticle is pretty dang tiny at 2.5x...

ra2bach, Would you say that the reticle when turned on could double as a large dot inside, say, at 2.5x @ 75 yards or so? I DO like this reticle, but I wish they offered this scope with their awesome TMCQ reticle, or something relatively close to it. It's such a toss up for me between this and the SS 1-6.

first off, I'm on the list for a SS 1-6 when it ships. it will go on a different gun. I don't see these crossing purpose very much.

about the reticle. it's FFP so it gets smaller as you go down in power. the center portion between the larger stadia is 18 MILS (20 MILS if you count out to the vertical hash on the thick stadia..). this spans roughly 64.8" at 100 yards - about the same as the 65MOA circle of an Eotech. it's 32.4" at 50yds, 16.2" at 25yds, 8.1" at 12.5yds., etc...

while this works well with an Eotech, because it is a bright circle, IMO, this scope will not work the same way. first of all the illum is not all that bright. it definitely is not as bright as any RDS. and the reticle is very thin at 2.5x so it is not as easy to pick up as the Eotech circle. rather than using the inner "cross hair", it's much quicker to just bracket the area with the thicker outer stadia. it's doable, but it's not going to be near as fast as any RDS or a SFP.

now the 1-6. it is also a FFP but the design is such that on 1x there is a thick lighted circle with the reticle centered in this. this is neat as you get a lighted circle with a cross in it.

however, as you dial up to 6x, the circle expands out of view leaving you with just the lighted MIL reticle. kind of ingenious. I'm hoping it will work well. it's about 3 oz heavier than the Vortex but 2.3" shorter so I'm absolutely looking forward to putting this on my LW Recce.

as I said before, when you put on a scope with a bottom magnification greater than 1, you change the purpose of the weapon. this Vortex scope rides on my gun at 10x. I might have a need to dial down for mirage or to get more field of view but I don't see it substituting at 2.5x for a RDS for close quarters use. I'm waiting to see if the SS 1-6 can...

AWESOME response, thank you. That is what I needed to know. I'm trying to fins something that would suit a .308 AR as an all-around utility optic (without looking like a telescope...I don't even want a 40mm bell, much less anything like a 50mm).

I love my 1-4 on one of my AR-15's, but I want more magnification for the .308. I'm not sure 6x is enough though. I was hoping this 2.5-10x32 would suit that role, especially because I love the hash mark reticle (I hate using and looking at mil-dots).

There are scopes that will fit this role, but I can't afford to spend $2k, etc.

I just put in my backorder for one of these with Scott at Liberty Optics. I'm really looking forward to getting it all set up.

For now, its going to replace the TR24G on my recce, but it may find its way onto my M1A or eventually onto another .308 AR project that's been sitting unfinished in my safe since November (parts shortages, etc). That is, at least, until I check out one of the Bushnells with the G2DMR reticle.

I really like the TR24, and have been reluctant to buy a lot of other optics (various ACOGs in particular) because I just don't see them doing anything that much better. But more and more lately, it seems this AR is getting used while shooting prone at targets more than 200 yards away. The limitations of the 24 start getting visible to me at about 300 yards, and I'd like to take advantage of longer distances than that. I think this new PST is just the ticket.

I love mine. Great optic for the price.

I bought the milrad and have been happy with it and for thr people asking about mounts. I agree I dont think that rings are going to work as well as a cantilevered mount i went with the larue 107 qd.
