I trust Scott at LibertyOptics.
thanks Don. I was a little leery of buying from a New York City Camera company based on the feedback of some of the retailers that advertise in the photo mags. l-o-n-g shipping times, loss leader advertising with no product in stock, and bait and switch are standard in that industry.
this is why I called and the guy was nice enough to go put his hands on it. if it's what I want, it arrives as scheduled and in good shape, I'll be a customer...

I guess I was confused - Re: your post that had me guessing where it was purchased did not mention the vendor by name.thank you, they are. but not trusting internet stocking, I called and spoke to a nice gentleman who was able to put his hands on one and read the description off the box.
he confirmed that it was the MRAD version, not MOA and I ordered it over the phone. free shipping by Fedex too...
Looking forward to a thorough review.
OK, I got it yesterday but had to wait till today to mount it.
first thought - the weight, turrets, reticle, lighting, and adjustable parallax are very well refined and has pretty good glass.
the only thing I have to compare it to is a 1" Kahles 3-9x42 SFP hunting scope and a 5-15 Bosch and Lomb Elite, which was their premier scope line in its day. first comparison, it blew the B&L away so I didn't even continue with it.
set roughly at 9x against the Kahles and in the dark looking at objects under a streetlight about 300 yards away, the image holds up to that. of course, the Kahles also cost about double what this one does.
it seems it has a smaller eyebox as the image is not as quick to the eye as the Kahles. brightness seems a bit, and just a bit, dimmer on the Vortex but this is a FFP scope so probably not apples to apples. I'll continue with comparisons so I'll have a better impression when I get back.
edit: OK, there's no way this is as bright as the Kahles when looking into shadows at night. that's probably because it's a 32mm objective instead of 42 but the difference is there...
I just got this mounted so I'm going to do some more looking and let you know. I'll do some comparison in the daylight so if anyone has any questions, let me know...
