Come to think of it...that term was coined by a certain "visored" member who has since been banned from M4C.

LoneOak has hands-on experience with the product in question. Do you?

Where are the extensive specs on Colt's website? Here...let me help you:

Not trying to get in a pissing contest here.
Yes, Colt doesn't list that much either, but they are a known quantity.
    Head Down is not.
And no, I have not handled one, but I haven't handled an Oly, Vulcan, or Hesse.
I'm not saying these are in the same league, but time will tell.

Apologies to LoneOak, we started off on the wrong foot.
Welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy your time here as much as I do.

I only raised the question because Head Down is a relative unknown here, and you praised them and you are also new. I'm skeptical by nature.

Now, you two go shake hands and lets be done with it.

My point is this: we are in a crisis. We face a government which is willing to overstep its bounds in order to take our firearms. In this day and age, any manufacturer with stock on hand is considered viable.

In light of the political situation faced by gun owners like you and me, and everyone else on this site, we need to consider every manufacturer as a possible source of parts.

Just today, I visited about 5 gun stores. I found one AR-15 in 5.56mm (not a .22LR variant) which, a year ago, would have been considered far less than desirable compared with BCM, Colt, etc. The price tag was $1,599.95. There were about 6 people looking at it. Romanian stamped AKs normally selling for $600 were listed at $1,575. Greatly worn 30-round aluminum AR magazines were listed at $55/each.

For those of us willing to obtain parts, we may consider Heads Down as a viable source, given that all other avenues of obtainment have been exhausted.

I know this thread is a year old, but sometimes people, like myself, will search a topic to get information. So, post count not withstanding, I'd like to attach this link as a possible objective review of the Head Down product.

I just checked out the Provectus model on their website and noticed that it came with a Geissele trigger and KNS pins. The last I heard, Geissele was actively discouraging the use of KNS pins with their triggers.

Unless you like to play the lottery, why on earth would you spend your money on an unproven brand with no track record?

Just get a proven rifle and call it a day.

At the time i toured the place all the other parts on the guns were farmed out from other suppliers.

Thats all i can tell you.
What is their relationship to Skyguns International, C3 and DRD Tactical? This all sounds awfully familiar. Is the guy with the cnc shop in his back yard named Jay?

I agree. I thought the one I handled was extremely heavy. The rail was bulky and rather simplistic in design. Taking specs, design and cost into account, I'm pretty unimpressed.

I have seen a half assed review on Jerking The Trigger or some other site like it. They seem like they were charging a lot for standard stuff then when the "panic" was in full swing, beating out others such DD, BCM, and Colt for prices. At the time their prices were between $100 up to $500 more than a similarly equipped DD or BCM in most cases without such things a MPI/HPT or chrome lined or CHF barrels. The first thought that came to mind was "This is what Palmetto State Armory would be if they charged double for their ARs". It sure didn't give me that great feeling I get from BCM. I've also heard of a lot of problems with blemishes and poor finishes. As others have said, I would stick with known manufacturers. I'm all for new companies but without at the very least of specs (like BCM) I'd pass.

It's my understanding that, at least in regards to DRD and Head Down, some of these guys are friends through the good ole boy system. I have handled some of these rifles in person and they typically leave something to be desired. I've never fired any of them, but based solely on handling, I would have to pass on both. There are much better companies (read known quantities) out there I would rather spend money on.
