Haven't used a hand stop but I like the vertical grip the best personally. I use it more as a hand stop but I like being able to grab it at other times.

12" DD Lite rail... Think I'm going with the hand stop for reference point. Thanks

I would say it's pretty subjective as well. I prefer a short hand-guard. The AFG loses for me because it makes many supported positions more difficult to get in to... ie lay the gun across a car hood or table. Where a stop or a VFG can be used to lock in in better many times.

its personal preference. However AFGs arent very useful on short handguards. On short handguards, I have to use a VFG

I like the afg more than a vfg because they are less obtrusive. But I'm going to get a handstop for the sbr.

You should pick up all 3 when you see the cheap on the EE. And shoot with them before judging. Pick the one you like and dump the rest. Plain and simple

I have the LaRue hand stop and like it. Very little weight trade off...

All in all...from all the answers, it boils down to personal preference. All of this depends on how you shoot your rifle compared to how others shoot their rifle. As suggested, buy each one and give each one a fair shake.

I prefer not to run a VFG or a hand stop. I put my light out toward the front/side of my rail and my hand ALWAYS lands right where my index finger can easily reach the toggle for my light. This is how I achieve consistency with every mount.

I put the Magpul AFG on my AR and I love the feel and control it gives me vs the vertical grip I had before. Go to your local shop and ask them to let you try different grips on your gun in the store to get a feel for them. Most shops would do this if they want to make a sale and keep your business. Thats what I did when I bought the AFG. Like others have said its a matter of personal preference.
