That's flat out scary... It looks like the pin is taper too.. might just be the picture... A taper pin will really pull on the block.

Our gas block is supplied with a coil pin,
which is more heavy duty than a standard split roll pin,
but just as easy to install.

Personally, I would never use set screws to attach a gas block to a barrel.

Thanks for all the feedback. Tonight I used a transfer punch to mark the center of the set screw holes. I'll dimple the barrel and add a cross pin once everything is secured with the screws. I think the roll pin (take-off from the trigger guard), combined with the set screws will provide adequate support under the GB. I'll post pics when I get rolling on this project.

Yes, please do. I'm interested to see how it turns out, especially with the roll pin.
If you are going to depart from the proven taper pin you might want to consider a grooved pin. I think a trigger guard roll pin is a bit light for this application. I understand why you would want to depart from the taper pin if you did not have the correct reamer.
