I know the OP from another Forum. Great job, M.

Not sure how I insulted anyone.
Man or woman in this thread.

I do all kinds of goofy techniques... but i agree... not need to use a torque wrench and surgical coverings for this job.

Just snug it up good and stake the shit.

Thanks Doug. It took some trial and error to get to this. It was a matter of time before I got a method help me figure it out. Glad it wasn't too long.

How do I hold the buffer tube straight?

I only have RE straightness issues with the A5. Those suckers don't stay put at all. Standard Carbine REs typically will stay straight while tightening up.

I like to use the torque wrench on the barrel nut... but castle nut I've always just gone by feel.

I redid this tube four times in the vise and it twisted. I had to find a different way. The above was that way.

All of my receiver extensions wanted to twist. (All from BCM)
I start them off to the left and when I tighten the castle nut it straightens itself out.

I would always recommend securing the lower in a vice when installing the receiver extension.

    Do you grease the threads?

I hear you. I'm nuts about getting them straight. I'll break the stakes if I see it's out of true.

I have, but rarely do. I ALWAYS grease the barrel nut. I've never seen any galvanic corrosion on the castle nut though.
