Anyone's 2013 training sched. imapcted by the BS?

I try to get to two professional classes a year on top of whatever I can practice with on my own time.

With all the political BS and current events has any of that impacted your ability to train or your future plans for upcoming classes?

I have a deposit down on a carbine class in April and I was able to get the required ammo early on before Newtown, and good thing I did considering 5.56 is sold out and back ordered till oblivion.

But after that's gone who knows as the rest of the stuff I have is the stash I never shoot.

Depending on what if anything is coming down the pipe I am curious as to how all of this is going to affect the training community in general for both the students and the instructors.

It is hard to train when there is no ammo to be had or parts or mags have been regulated out of existence.

I'm planning a TriCon pistol course in August, but that's 2000 rounds. I have the ammo it, but I'm not sure others do...civilians and agencies.

Yep. Impacted hard. Like I told the guys on my local forum in CT, besides one class in Va this summer which is a low round count pistol class and probably an ECQC, I refuse to shoot a a live round unless something needs to be function checked. I'm far from short on ammo, but with all the uncertainty out there and the current state of affairs (possible legislation, a bankrupt country, a soon to be gutted military, a f'd up border situation and a million other variables) every round in the stash counts at this point in time.

2013 will include lots of SIMS and the continuation of my typical manipulation work done dry. I also refocused my goals having approximately 75% of my training go towards non firearm related skills aka Atienza Kali weapons systems. It feels good to get back into it full swing after taking a long break from doing it formally and consistently.

I highly recommend seeking out a Sayoc/Atienza training group in your area. It can't hurt to give it a try.

I am plan on going to at least one (maybe two) training courses this year. I have the ammo. I figure I have the ammo and learning will occur, irrespective of outside circumstances. I do understand the reluctance to use up any ammo, as it is really hard to find ammo, even at ridiculous prices.

The reason I've been accumulating so much ammo over the last couple of years has been to avoid fluctuations in supply and insulate myself from temporary shortages. My sole reason for acquiring it has been for practice and training so I have no compunction against using it up for that purpose. I don't begrudge Jeff Gonzales 2000 rounds, I just hope the supply problem eases by then so that the course will have enough attendees to not be canceled.

    Its going to be tough.....

I have a hunt planned as well as a 3 day class and Im not sure if Im going to make the class. The round count has not been established yet for it either, trying times indeed.

In November I had used all my training ammo but thought, "I'll just get another case after Christmas." Bad choice.

Certainly, and I probably have a better "in" on ammo than many others. I would usually step down and do more tactics stuff with 22LR but even that is hard to find in bulk.

I agree, I am focusing on Sayoc Kali heavily and will be hitting the Defoor/Kier classes
