I hear you on hoping that the class won't get cancelled. This is exactly the situation we have for a Frank Proctor Advanced Performance Pistol class coming up in late February. Just today two shooters dropped out due to ammo availability and / or ridiculous pricing. Unless the remaining shooters pay their course fee AND have secured the 2,000 rounds needed by the end of January we may not have a class!

I've taken carbine courses from Jeff Gonzales, and I agree that the high repitition concept has merit.

I was planning on taking all three this year (handgun, carbine, and shotgun). but with this pending legislation in Massachusetts the only thing I might be able to do is shotgun and maybe handgun with a 1911. who knows, we shall see.

I was trying to do a course every month starting with RB1 in FL next month then home defense with vickers in march. I'm taking it by stride sticking to 2 day courses for live fire unless the round count is low and has more focus on tactic like the home defense courses. I don't see how these 1000rd/day courses will survive unless it was a 2000rd count course spread over 3+ days

The only difference is having to source ammo for a class...which may mean added cost, but thats it.

I'm taking the Alias/John McPhee carbine class this Sat-Sun in CA. The 2-day course only calls for 560 rounds and 250 handgun rounds. Most of the courses I've taken in the past have called for at least a thousand rounds of carbine ammo. Recent courses I've taken, instructors are reducing round counts. I think training organizations are also tailoring their curriculum accordingly given the current state of affairs.

I am taking a Costa Carbine class in May and I maybe just enough ammo to make the class work so I bought a dillon 650 to start loading my own stuff and bought a M&P AR .22 to practice with as well as a sig sauer 1911-22 to practice so it doest cost as much but still the sma eplatforms I am using in the class just been working on bulking up on my reloading compnets as well as knowledge since I wont be getting any 5.56 ammo any time soon.

I would be very surprised if more trainers(at least some of the bigger names) don't go the EAG route of working a deal with manufacturers to be able to get ammo drop shipped to the class. It's a small amount of ammo that would do lots to solidify brand loyalty which in the 5.56x45 market seems to be nonexistent.

Worked wonders for Asym amongst serious shooters.

I was going to sign up for a class, but I'm not sure I have enough ammo on hand to do so. Hopefully I'll be able to grab some though. Class is still a while off, I think.
