    It's my understanding that prong type flash hiders are more effective than birdcage types.
    I could be wrong though.

    Thanks, was informative. Would like to see a comparison against the original 3-pronged and the vortex, seem to be similar in design.

    There are a series of tests out there that someone did. I believe there are four or five separate videos in the series on around 10 flash hiders. I stumbled across it while looking for something else. IIRC, the A1 3-prong placed pretty well but not the best. Still, the better performing ones cost around $45 or so, and the old 3-prong can be had for around $7.

    This isn't the video I saw, but it compares some fh's you might be interested in.
