Gear Sector Hand Stops & Light Mount

I have tried many different rail attachments for the forearm... vertical fore grips, Magpul's weird AFG and AFG2. The VFG left me feeling like I didn't control the rifle as well as I should, although the ergos were great. Magpul AFG was very awkward to me, the angle really hurt my wrist. I finally adopted the hand stop approach, and wanted to take a minute here to showcase and plug the Gear Sector offerings for this...

I run my rifles with 2 Gear Sector hand stops installed. One at 6 o'clock, and one at 3 o'clock (because I'm a lefty). I like this because it gives my hand one place to hold firm while firing, and it also sets my thumb in constant position to active the Surefire light held in the Gear Sector mount immediately in front of the hand stop.

If you're less than satisfied with a VFG... give hand stops a thought.

Here is a representative picture of this setup on one of my rifles utilizing a YHM quad rail. I greatly prefer the Troy Alpha rail, but don't have a photo of that at the moment.

I am using a Surefire light, basically a Viking Tactics light for their mount, but in a GS setup. 200 lumens, push button rear cap.

I've been running the Gear Sector handstops for little bit, only around 2k through with the stops mounted, but the quality great and I feel it gives me more positive control.

I initially started with two in the same configuration as the OP, but found I preferred a VFG as my 6 o'clock reference/stop. Works out because I simply moved the 2nd over to another rifle so I have the same set-up.

Side note - I found Gear Sector's service impressive, after receiving my order (again, only 2 hand stops), I received a personal email from Jason asking about my ordering experience and ensuring I was happy with my order. Personal touches can make all the difference, and it demonstrates a committment to quality. Highly recommend.

Hand stops do what they are designed to do well. on the other hand I am unsure how you were gripping the vfg, but if you use it like a hand stop it is very effective at controlling the weapon while being quite comfortable.

    Just another option

Agreed, they will do very well. They have a high quality product, perfect fit and finish, durable. I've been beating up their Surefire 6px mount and it has not slipped or come loose at all. Also, their customer service is prompt and professional.

Gear Sector make awesome stuff. I run their 2 point slings on most of my fighting carbines. Light mount is slick, sling plate is as well. Great company.
