I'm a proponent of "If it ain't broke don't fix it". I have a Colt LE6920 and it goes bang every time I pull the trigger. It's not flashy, it's not sexy, it's not pretty.. but it goes bang EVERY TIME if I do my job.

My fiance and I get into a similar fight very often... Form vs Function. She thinks the DD M4 V7 is "Sexy". TBH since she is into guns and goes to classes with me I'm not complaining (and get her what she asks for). With the DD, BCM etc you get Form AND Function.... at a price.

I look at it.. The Colt is (normally) at least $400-$700 cheaper then a DD and if you don't "want/need" the DD upgrades that's $$ left over for Ammo/Training/Aimpoint PRO (I want the CompM4 but... damn it's expensive). They have the same functionality (they all go bang when you pull the trigger) and I have money left over for goodies. Just my .02

I doubt anyone is worried about Colt, or any other quality manufacturer, being stagnant. Lots of folks would love to be able to buy a Colt at MSRP right now. Considering the current political climate, all of my purchases are being directed at the tried and true products.

No. The goal of business is, IMO, one of these:

    -Maximize profit
    -Maximize owner value

Or you might simply say the goal is to 'make money'

But innovation and adaptation are NOT primary goals. They might become a goal in that they are a means to an end...in other words, you might make them goals in order to make more money, but that's it

You can innovate, adapt, and change circles around everybody else but if you go out of business because you went broke you FAILED.

I think in today's political environment it's not just Colt who is being conservative in releasing new whiz-bang products, hell they cant build all the rifles they've sold.

At Shot there weren't many mfgs who were releasing new products, most were just tweaking existing lines. Many were saying that they want to see what happens with any legislation before they invest in the R&D that goes into a new product line.

Don't write Colt off for new tricks this year.

I would disagree that Colt is stagnant and look forward to seeing their new stuff trickle out this year.

Colt quit making anything innovative long ago. All they make now is
1911's, horribly overpriced Single Actions and AR's that are popular nowadays cause people can actually get one. Colt pissed on everyone that wasen't a military contract for years and now have to suckle on the teet of LE and the public to keep paying the union wages.

    Colt 901 was pretty innovative.
