At Shot 2012, they brought out my gun (2 years later).

    That figures!

RE COLT: This sounds like a if ain't broke, don't fix it mentality. What they don't understand is the market share they are missing by sticking with carbines only. On the other hand, resources would be diverted from current production. If they are at max production and selling everything then can possibly make, it doesn't make economic sense to divert resources and invest in retooling.

I am very serious. What, in a practical measurable way, does the KAC do better? Is the KAC significantly more accurate? If so, does that accuracy have a practical application for a fighting carbine? Is it more accurate than the Colt using issue ammo? Is the KAC more reliable? If so, how does that reliability manifest itself? What am I paying for when I buy a KAC? I know it has a rail, which understandably increases cost, but what else would I get? I understand customer service and I will and do pay more for good customer service. KAC has that.

Understand that I think the KAC is a good, well made rifle and is manufactured to the highest standards. I'm told it shoots softer, which I believe. But what does it do better that the Colt in hard numbers?

I agree Colt needs to look to that day when the AR is obsolete and passe, but they already have the answer to the SCAR and other "new" rifles. It's the AR and it's many configurations. The SCAR doesn't bring any new technology to the table. I'm not sure about the Beretta 160, but I don't think it's got anything new either.

Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, I don't think there is yet anything out there that beats the AR

Lets not forget about the Colt All American 2000 and Double Eagle.....

If that's what happens when Colt sways outta their lane, I'm glad they are staying the course with their ARs.

When I hear "fit and finish" I cringe. It's the same thing I've heard people applaud on garbage guns.

Now I'm the first to bash Colt on their recent parade of Circus ARs... But they still have the quality where it matters... Materials, Testing, etc.

Tight receiver fitment or flawless dreamy finish isn't what make an AR right.

I've not had had the chance to read this whole thread but looking at the 2013 SHOT Show pics tells me that Colt has some different ideas. All are based on the current AR-15 platform though, so that may not constitute innovative to most (to me it doesn't) but if they made a completely new design from the ground up, like KAC did with the PDW or something with a monolithic upper and quick change barrels like the SCAR (but actually offer the barrels!) or ACR then they may finally have a 21st-century fighting rifle.

I do believe they are doing the right thing with how their 1911 lineup is expanding. I like their Wiley Clapp models as well as the Talo and CCG models, something they should've been making all along.

Colt as a firearms company have been in the crapper for years,I have lost track as to how long it has been since they made a pistol to fire the most popular cartridge in the world 22lr. How could that be a good business decision?

saw a guy bring in a brand new Colt... said it wouldn't cycle.

Bolt carrier key was staked, but it was missing a screw. So...someone at Colt staked the carrier and did not notice a missing screw.
