    Kind of.

Except everybody has been wanting Glock to do a single stack 9mm for YEARS (Shield anybody?) as well as a pistol caliber carbine that uses their mags...especially in 10mm.

Glock didn't even go out on a limb with something new, they ****ed with their golden goose.

A semi intelligent company could leave the golden goose alone while introducing something new and different. Glock just went full retard.

I agree, they could work on other projects outside of the AR-15 and still be able to focus on it. The AR-15 won't be king forever and unless Colt actually starts looking forward they will be left in the dust of those who are looking for the future. I mean look at how many have made systems to try and unseat the AR-15. None have yet to do so but the day is coming and I would like to see Colt leading that charge.

Put the XBOX controller down and read, hint read here not at TOS.
Ummm....which part of "I own a 6920" did you not understand?

I have either been issued a Colt (M16A1 and XM177 in the Army) or purchased them since 1978. I don't know what else they could do to keep up with DOD requirements or public demand. They're offering some nice mono-rail stuff like the 6740. In addition, I also use the Colt Single Action Army or Frontier Six-Shooter. I am a rancher after all. They produce a product that I'm happy with.

There is one thing stagnant about one Colt I own. It's a 1994 Colt 6520 Government Carbine that's new in the box, still sitting in my safe since 1994. It's one I've never shot so I guess it could be called stagnant.

IMO they one of the few mfgs that make a top of the line AR as the AR should be made.

In my humble opinion there is no need to fix what is not broken and is considered the standard, like what Glock tried to do. A private organization's first priority is always maximizing profit, they only evolve product if it will make a higher profit margin than the current product. I'm sure Colt was quite content picking up WalMart as a seller of the 6920 with their massive purchasing power. My local WallyWorld was always supplied a steady stock of LE6920 for $1087 and the 6920 MagPuls (~$100 more) from their distributor until the panic...they had 7 of each when I last checked beginning of December.

Stagnant? eh, I don't really think so. They have found a place in the market and they do seem pretty comfortable in it though. They are building solid, yet basic carbines and they can't seem to make them fast enough. There's not a whole lot of flash in Colt's lineup, but I don't really see the reason to tack on a bunch of aftermarket crap when the end user is more than likely to change it to suit their tastes. The basic configurations help keep prices low and people buying.

As far as innovation goes, they are somewhat behind some of the other big names. Then again it could turn out to be a wise decision to not dump a bunch of money into a platform that doesn't seem to be going anywhere, like the ACR. I'm hoping that somewhere deep inside the bowels of that factory in Hartford Colt is working on a true next gen competitor, but as an outsider I can only hope.

(Warning: I may not know what I'm talking about).

I know my AR15 buying days are stagnant being here in New Yorkistan. Lucky for me, my wife just got me a new Colt AR15 (MT6400) for Christmas.

We're gonna get out of this state as soon as we can. Hopefully within a few years. Then I'll worry about Colt being stagnant once I'm not!

My Lord Major! How did you ever manage to maintain your self control to keep that 6520 a virgin? Nineteen years! One more year and the Colt will be able to retire. You'll just have to celebrate and run a mag or two through it.

That is my hope as well. I do not want to see Colt sit back on the M4 contract while they miss out on new contracts when every manuf out there is gunning for the position of the general issue carbine.
