    What optic?

I want to get a scope setup for 200-300 yards but I don't want a huge scope on my AR, what's my best option for this? Which one is best bang for the buck?

Schmidt and Bender scopes are fantastic but expensive. Same for Leupold. Vortex is also good, but a little cheaper. If that is still too rich for your blood, Bushnell has some models that should work, but they are not the same quality as the above.

I'm able to get good hits out to 400 with my Aimpoint. Certainly not as accurate as something with magnification though.

Which aim point do u have? I really like the eotech the most but I know I'll need a magnifier and don't want to have to buy both. More or less want to have it just in case most of the time it'll be shot in 100 yard range.

I have the CompM4s. I started buying these before the had the PRO model and I like to have the same sights on all my ARs, so I stuck with them. The sight is as close to perfect as anything I've ever tried, but they are expensive. I love the fact that it takes a regular AA battery and that the battery lasts 80,000 hours if you leave it on all the time. The PRO model basically does the same thing for half the price, but it uses a different battery which doesn't last quite that long, but still longer than any other sight I know of. If I was starting from scratch, I'd be getting the PRO model today.

The new EOTech magnifier is great, btw. Tried it out at SHOT. If I were in the market for one, that's what I'd buy. The EOTech sights are great too. I had one for a while, but I prefer the Aimpoint. If I couldn't get Aimpoint, I'd buy EOTech.

Bigson, check out the Nikon P-223 3x fixed magnification. It's inexpensive and sometimes you can catch a deal where they will include the rings.

For that short range, I'd just get an H1 Aimpoint Micro RDS. You're not going to have a lot of bullet drop to worry about.

Dial the dot down so it's just bright enough to see and you can tear it up at those ranges.

Well I swung by academy today and they had the Nikon p223 after checking it out that's what I'm gonna go with, throw some QD rings on it it'll be good to go. Should I go with the high 1" rings or medium .5" ones, factory a2 sight post?

If I remember correctly the rings should put the center of the glass at 1.5 inches above the rail. I am using the p-223 rings so you may want to look up their specs. I can't say weather they are high or medium. The higher the rings the lower the co-witness.
If you have a fixed front sight post, you should have a 1/2 co-witness with the P-223 rings. It will appear as a slight gray blur. I have a folding front sight now so I don't see that blur as I did with a fixed FSP.
