Mistake mounting ML3 on Larue Mount. Help?

Well I just realized I mounted my ML3 about 20 degrees offset of where it should be. The mounting screws had the permanent red loctite on them so I don't know if they can be removed. Should I be worried about anything? Obviously it shouldn't affect much since its a red dot right?

    Thanks for the help!

It will make zeroing a bitch. Larue mounts don't come with red loctite, did you put on your own? Lesson learned, use blue.

If it's truly the red, you can touch the screw head with a soldering iron to get it out of it's solid state. This shouldn't effect your Aimpoint.

I would fix it if it were mine.

Mistake mounting ML3 on Larue Mount. Help?

The screws that came from Larue had red on the threads that I assumed was loctite. I didn't apply any myself. It will affect zeroing just because the windage and elevation nobs are rotated a little?

Yes, it will make your dot move diagonally as opposed to left/right and up/down. To move it straight right, you'll have to turn it to the right, and then adjust which way it moved vertically, which will in turn move it left or right a little bit again. You can eventually get it done...but it's wrong. Fix it.

It did not come with red loctite. It came dosed with another product(I can't think of the name)that is red but behaves like blue loctite. You can remove those screws without any heat or terrible problems.

Just do it so that it's set up properly from the get go.

Good deal I will definitely do that today when I get home. I didn't think about the zeroing issues. Thank you for your help!

I did the same thing when changing mounts because I moved the lens caps so they looked normal, then it was in the mount and I knew it was off. Also, mine is painted tan so I can tell where it was before from where all the carbon or whatever built up on it.

I fixed mine as soon as I noticed. The blue loctite did not dry by the time I noticed.

If the gook was already on the threads you are OK. If you put red Loctite on the threads you are screwed. A soldering iron ain't gona do it. GH

Uh, did you even try to back out the screws? If the screws came with "something" red already on them, it was not the permanent red loc-tite. That stuff will require direct heat from a torch (actual experience talking since I do use it from time to time) - but not on optics!
