What about having it machined off or even easier having a competent engraver engrave over the entire area creating a uniform area to be engraved again; a blank slate per say???

I've watched both of my SBR's be engraved while I waited and it seems like covering a mistake would be fairly easy...

I won't list any names because anyone can make an honest mistake, especially with a strange name like my city.

Yep, made many an honest mistake myself for sure. But let's review:

*You paid to have a professional/self-proclaimed engraver, one who must understand the utter importance of correct spelling, do a related job for you. Somehow despite the overt inference that he had the correct spelling at his disposal, he still disregarded it while knowing his etchings are permanent.

*Another professional/self-proclaimed gentleman offers his condolences at the unfortunate error and states that he will make a taboo engraver's mistake either disappear or seem obscure. This with the full realization that his engraving is not only being paid for but also may last for hundreds of years. And he ****s it up too.

I'm a realistic and often forgiving fellow, but whether you needed to have it done or not at this point I'd be justifiably pissed.

Contact Ryan at Orion Arms. I believe he can fill the engravings and he also does great engraving work. His turn around time was fast for me too.

No, he "made" it. If he "manufactured" it without a license, he broke the law.

Words mean things, especially when they're both specifically defined in the Section called "Meaning of Terms" in the part of CFR that regulates NFA.

I disagree. The tax is for "making." The act is manufacturing. It could also be stupid semantics where words do in fact NOT matter, because on the forms it says that the word make is intended to include manufacture.

I don't really care either way.

This is why you engrave BEFORE sending your paperwork to the ATF.
    Sorry to hear it.

Why? You have to engrave name, city, state...and that's true before or after you send in the paperwork.
