I can guarantee that there are some dipshits in YOUR state that attempted to vote in the "chosen one" too. Our dipshits just outnumber your dipshits, but the contraction "y'all" really would include everyone in CA and I want you to know that I, and millions of other Californians, vote against the libs in EVERY election. Please don't lump us together since every state has a share of the opposition.

Thanks for that info. I must have messed with the facts in my head. I always thought that the AR-15 came out as semi-auto and was used by civilians until the military adopted it and wanted select fire variants made.

Well, my rifle is just my rifle, call it what you want.

I was always under the impression that the AR-15 was a Colt specific model that was the "Civilian" version of the M16 Rifle.

Back when Stoner invented the AR-10 select fire rifles were legal, When the AR-15 was designed off the AR-10 it was still legal to own select fire rifles.

Well Colt did make the AR-15 after the purchase of the patents, but the very first use of the AR-15 was early in vietnam with SEALS and RVN troops, it was still called the AR-15 then.

i don't think anyone will appreciate a federal awb as you're suggesting, one based on california's or otherwise.

i'm saying that if there is a federal awb, the firearms community at large will find work arounds that already exist quite helpful. california has already been contending with this for so long, the homework has already been done. it is a very unfortunate reality that any federal awb will very much be based on california's awb.

actually if it WEREN'T based on the california one, or if it is written to close all the work arounds that exist in the california ban... the firearms community at large should groan.

The military designated it the M16 then Colt marketed and sold it as the AR15, semi automatic civilian version. Colt is the only one today that uses the term AR15 on the rifles. The patent expired so many other companies make variants, just like a 1911.
I took a look at the list real quick, and it has brands like Colt, DPMS, S&W M&P 15, etc. Would a Frankenstein AR-15 be also be banned?
