Great little scope for the price point. Now that Burris is under German management, I've noticed a tremendous upswing in the consistency of their product. Glass is on par with it's price range IMO. I think it's a good investment. Burris in my experience has great CS as well with quick turn around times.

Burris Mtac is great for the money.
Vortex pst 1-4 is ok, not bright for daytime use.
Take a look at SWFA SS 1-4. Its really bright in the day and also has a
mil based stadia lines for precision work.

Can you see the reticle in daytime with no illumination?

Yeah, the reticle is black when not illuminated.
    It's quite nice.

That’s good news. I’ve never used a 1-4 or a red dot, but just looking at reticles online, it seems like it would be nice to not have it illuminated unless absolutely necessary due to light conditions.

Just took mine out for the first time and put 200 rounds through it. No problem zeroing it and has kept it so far.

I am very impressed with the MTAC. I have put a few hundred rounds through it on my SR15, including about 8 mags on a SCAR17, no problems so far.

One thing I have noticed, however is the illumination dial doesn't have extremely positive detents, so the reticle can flicker under shock unless the dial is centered on the illum. number perfectly. Often this just happens once and the subsequent shocks seat the dial. Not a dealbreaker, just annoying.
