"Other Assault Rifles" forum should be renamed

Since I became a member here years ago, I was always bothered by the name of the subforum "Other Assault Rifles". In light of recent events, I have decided that it is time to bring the subject up. These rifles are NOT "Assault Rifles", they are just rifles. Keeping this name promotes the liberal message pushing for the banning of these sort of weapons.
I hereby request that that subforum be renamed something like "Other Fighting Rifles" or "Other Combat Rifles"

I bristle every time a semi automatic AR15 is called an "assault" rifle. The fact that the forum OP is writing about follows the AR15 forums, there is an implication that the AR15 is an "assault" rifle as well. I, too think the forum title should be changed.

IMHO, the terms Combat or Fighting are as divisive as Assault.

+1. This describes the rifle, not it's purpose or intent.

I don't think the phrasing helps or hurts us anymore than "standard capacity magazines" does. I understand the feeling...but the anti's don't give one flipping **** what they're called.

I was just chiming in on the subject but you 2 are right. Today it's those pesky assault rifles. Tomorrow it's semi automatic sporting rifles. The day after that it'll be hip held fire sprayers. We can thank Feinswine for that last little twist. It's a never ending litany of crap....

    Yep.

But rarely we do actually discuss actual assault rifles in mil/le/nfa threads.
