If you were looking for precision rifle stuff...

If you were looking for precision rifle stuff at a gun show, would this have you swinging by for a chat?

I guess I was fortunate, to live in the time when Kevin Johnson (Johnson Tactical Rifles) was building rifles here in Pittsburgh. I think the low key professional look of his website is what piqued my curiosity. Nobody in camo - nobody in shades. Just some professionally photographed examples of his handicraft, a clear explanation of what he did, and a description of how he did it.

I called him up, then I dropped by his shop, got to know him, and he built me a GREAT SPR. In fact, the very LAST SPR to roll out of his shop, was mine. I just DID make it under the wire!

definitely. nice setup! it looks more like a trade show setup though. i mean, just glancing at it, i would guess the rifles are all demo and not something i could purchase on the spot (like a regular gun show), but something i would have to order, or examples of maybe custom paint jobs or something.

also, i'd keep the ammo boxes near the middle to discourage five finger discounts when the crowds are distracting you. put the video monitor on the end so people can watch it and not be in the way of you talking to other customers

Good call on the ammo. I would definitely recommend that too.

The chocolate chip camo is repulsive but I could overlook it for the DTA stuff...

Only if it came to the Tulsa Wanenmacher show. There was a lot of good bolt gun vendors, but I didn't see any DTA stuff, doesn't mean it wasn't there as its the largest show in the world.
