Its not really the size of the red got that seems to be the problem but rather the size of the T1 FOV and finding the dot inside of it ( I hope I'm making sense). Keep in mind, I have only handled the gun while the in the armory and have not shot it, so I'm sure with practice it may be easier to pick up. However, it was not even close to being as natural as a RDS on a rifle.

I'm going off memory here since I dont have the gun in front of me but, if the T1 was able to be mounted further rearward (kind of like the burris speed bead) it would probably solve some of the slow dot pick up. IMO, and depending on your mounting solution, a eotech or larger tubed aimpoint or a may be a better solution if one was so inclined as to install a RDS on a shotgun. I will take a look at the gun on Sunday ( when I go back to work) and really handle it, then I will post up anything that I may have to add.

I've been experimenting with an old spare H-1 I had laying around. I put it on an extra 870 I had, with a Mesa Tactical rail mounted on the top of the receiver. I seems to work pretty well, with the RDS zero'd for slugs at 50 meters.

Its also got a vent rib with an XS Big Dot tritium bead out front. The Aimpiont is mounted low enough with the factory base, that I can use the Big Dot if needed.

Field of view is not a real issue for me. I'm looking "around" the sight, not through it. The dot is just there, I put where I desire a hole, and wait for hydraulic fluid to emerge.

I basically built the whole thing out of spare parts, so it's got an old Speedfeed that I cut down to a 12" LOP, an old Surefire Laser Products fore-end, and a Mesa Tactical 4-shot side saddle loaded with Federal Tru-Ball Deep Penetrator slugs. I have a Vang Comp +2 magazine extension on it, and keep six Federal Flite Control 00 buck loads in the tube. That way I can quickly do a "select slug" drill if needed and not lose a round of 00 buck.

Oh, and its got a 870 Police Magnum trigger group and a Vang Comp safety, stainless steel follower, and Wolff mag spring. Plus a Vickers VCAS on it. I had a spare Malkoff 200-lumen LED for the Surefire fore-end. I like that, it's got a nice flood and will illum the back yard or living room with ease.

Like I said, this shotgun is a test bed. It started life as a beat to crap 870 I got off the used rack at Cabela's. I've got another blued 870 Police Magnum with rifle sights in the safe, but I'm really liking this ugly stepchild. I'm doing a HiTS Advanced Shotgun class next month with it, and the pretty blued shotty will be the backup.

    Hope that helps.
