Anyone have experience with the Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP? I'm looking for an optic for my 24" Grendel, which I will be using in my club's Long Range Tactical match (200-1,000 yards).

Have seen posts about it here, but more on Sniper Central and Sniper's Hide.
I have the Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP Mil/Mil on my R700P .308 and am very happy with it, but I wish I had gotten the 6-24 instead for my tired old eyes:

How about you buy the 6-24 and we'll trade?
Scott at Liberty Optics, where I bought mine, is a good guy.

I picked one up (MOA/MOA) for a 700 PSS in 223. Tried it on a 40x in 22lr and was wishing I had a little more power. I wish I would have gone 6-24 but it was 2-3 months out.
Check Brownells and Hawke Optics if you having problems sourcing.
I love mine. Mil/Mil FFP.
I am happy I did not get a 6-24. The field of view is much better at lower power.
A higher power optic would be much better for group size on paper targets, I can imagine. I prefer the 4-16 even still.
The PST's are great scopes that are feature rich. I really like the fact that they are offered in matching turret/reticle configuration.
As someone has mentioned before, higher magnification may be wanted to those shooting groups. For dynamic shooting however, I personaly like the 4-16

I have this exact same scope and it's an awesome deal for the money. I had a chance to play with quite a few of my friend's scopes before settling on the Vortex. I was already looking to purchase one, but it wasn't until after I got to play with his and look through it that I decided I must have one for myself. I think 4-16 is plenty for 5.56... 6-24 if you're shooting 7.62+....
I think I'm pretty much sold on the merits of this scope now.

What type of shooting do you do with that rifle, Pat?
