Aimpoint moving very slightly in mount

When I put my Aimpoint in the mount it was as tight as it would go, but the mount did not clamp completely on the top, there was still a small gap. Now I just checked it after shooting a few hundred rounds over the past couple weeks of having it, and its moving very very slightly, I cannot even see the optic move, just feel it.

When I shot it last weekend, I was not going for accuracy at all, but was able to hit what I aimed at, at variable distances. But I want it clamped tight.

Why wont the screws go any farther to tighten down harder? On side the screw, though difficult because of Loctite and the fact it would go no further before, would tighten slightly. The other will not budge.

Should I remove it? Because I will want to take it to the 100 yard range again and check its zero. I am really strict on making sure my optic or iron sights are zeroed to what I consider acceptable.

What type of mount is it? Doesn't sound right at all for it to move.

It is either your mount, or your optic. Contact La rue and let them know what is going on, I'm guessing they will very quickly ask you to send it back.

Well I started using a ratchet to tighten down the screws which were moving smoothy then.... the top top of the attachment (do not know what they are called.) snapped off. Damn, my already bad day, just got better!

Ratchet? You should never have to use that much force on a mount. No offense, but you should have taken other's advice and contacted Larue first.

Still, give 'em a call and explain what happened. Perhaps they can work something out with you. Their CS is very good.

    Best,
    C.
