Besides pattern groupings I'm also interested in penetration depth. #1 interests me because the mass of the extra pellets is greater and it still penetrates in the 14"+ zone.

Has anyone shot/patterned the 3" Magnum Winchester #1 Buck?

    Shell Length: 3"
    Shot Size: #1 Buckshot
    Number of Pellets: 24
    Muzzle Velocity: 1040 fps
    Winchester #: XB1231

Low Muzzle Velocity, but TWENTY FOUR pellets in one shot is intriguing for HD range.

I'd like to see that too. I found this:

My guess is that all the extra pellets bump into each other and accuracy suffers just like 00 mag. Less range but more pellets in my experince w/ 00 mag. I could be wrong about #1.

Does anyone know a source for 12ga copper plated #1?

Most of the usual vendors seem to only stock 12ga 00.

I just got a hold of some 3'' Mag Federal Flight Control 00. Its 12 pellets vs 15 and it patterns quite nicely.
