Keep an eye out. There are some shops out there who aren't gouging. I picked up a brand new Daniel defense m4v5LW for 1700 at a local gun shop about 3 weeks ago.

From what I've seen at local gun stores (well back home in Michigan anyway) is that the prices on mid to lower end ARs are being gouged, while the higher end guns are staying pretty much the same. I saw a colt competition rifle going for $2400, which I believe is very close to MSRP. If you're gonna spend that much you had might as well get your moneys worth.

I am sure this may have been mentioned already, but as the news die's down, so will the high prices.

I own a Colt 6920, after having owned many many different AR platforms over the years, Trust me ! Buy a Colt, you will never regret it.

Everything will die down eventually just wait. However if you really want a rifle and would consider spending $2400 then i highly reccomend buying a nice new LRB M-14!!!! I like AR rifles but I love M-14's.

There are rifles still out there. Here is one:

The price is high, but it is a Colt 6940, in stock.

You lived without an AR so far I would wait. During the waiy if you study up on what the metals the Smith is made from, a Colt BCM or Daniel Defense are the better buys by far! Machine gun steel instead of bolt action steel.

It is the metal the Colts are made from.

Thanks for the continued replies and suggestions! I am hoping to hold out as long as possible but I'm not one for patience when it involves things I know I want. LOL

And with the uncertainty in the HF 241 bill in MN it does not calm my fears of bans.

Likewise with prices where they are now for ARs, I don't think I am going to be able to afford a Colt. At least not for my first AR.

Again, thanks for input and replies!

I'm not going to say get a Colt but under normal circumstances I think they are worth the extra couple hundred dollars. There are other very good guns out there but I seriously doubt most people would ever regret a Colt purchase. I know when things get back to normal one is going in my collection, but so is a BCM.

Whelp, just got taxes done and I got -$980 back, I was hoping for that number to be in the black... So regardless of which route I go between custom or complete buy, that decision is going to have to be put on back burner for a while. I just pray to the AR gods no such AWB or other restrictions come to my beloved MN state before I get there!
