I don't own one and don't know enough about Huldra's (or their DI brand Korstog's) proprietary modifications to represent them properly. I'd you're actually interested, you could PM Dave-HuldraArms. I know he would be happy to answer your questions and could do so accurately about either Huldra or Korstog rifles.

At the same time I also want it to be a quality piece, reliable, and accurate, comfortable to shoot end also viscerally appealing to me.

That's why I was looking at a piston gun - ease of maintenance.

Thanks for all your replies. I'll keep looking !

Cleaning? Do you live in the middle of talcum powder bottle? If not then regular m4 will serve you well. I have carried firearms for extended period in desert conditions without extensive cleaning and only heavy lubrications. Stop overthinking this non-issues.

    Buy the LWRC.

I don't know anything about the Christensen, but I have two pistons (LWRC M6A2 and Stag Model 8 SBR) and a DI gun (6920). I shoot suppressed at my outdoor range alot, so I really prefer my pistons over the 6920. I love my M6A2, it shoots everything that I cram in it, stays really clean, and it handles my AAC suppressor very well.

Since someone else mentioned it, I think the 6920 is the best DI gun you can buy for the money, but I much prefer a piston over a DI gun - that is my opinion and how I choose to spend my bucks. I don't mind cleaning either, and I keep them all equally clean.

One other thing - you will have to take some of the opinions you receive with a grain of salt. For example, many guys hate Glocks for some reason. I love them, you can't argue with their reliability.

Bottom line, you can't go wrong with the LWRC M6A2.

This is a key phrase in the original user's post. He lives in NJ so unfortuneately a lot of options are not available to him.

    Piston AR's have their place- to determine if you need one ask yourself four questions;

    1) Do I need a barrel length shorter than 14.5 inches
    2) Do I need to run my gun suppressed a lot
    3) Do I need to shoot a lot of full auto
    4) Do I need to shoot a wide variety of ammo

Piston guns have been shown to be superior in those four categories over a DI gun. If you can say no to all four questions a good DI gun will do you fine

My favorite DI brands are BCM ( who is one of my show sponsors ) and Colt ( who I have no affiliation with- other than a buddy who works there)- from what I have seen both of those brands build good solid AR style rifles that are proven performers

In piston AR's the gold standard of course is the HK 416- the civilian legal version called the MR556 is basically the same gun with some changes like a heavier, non chrome lined bore that make it different enough that some people prefer to source a grey market HK 416 upper or choose a different piston gun. The MR556 has an excellent reputation for accuracy and although heavy is a very well made rifle. Another piston brand I have seen that I have seen good results with is LWRC - the majority of LWRC guns I have seen in my classes perform well; If I wanted a piston AR and did not want an HK product I would look at an LWRC offering.

The Internet, and M4C is no exception, has been full of non objective comments and threads regarding this subject- I would urge potential buyers to sort thru the emotion to determine what makes sense for them - remember any of the guns I listed with good ammo ( getting harder to find these days at a reasonable cost), good magazines and well lubed have proven to be reliable performers; in fact we live in the golden era of AR style black rifles- never before has there been so many good choices in this category

There are other quality brands on the market to be sure- I just listed the ones that I have the most experience with and have seen the fewest problems with in my classes

Now the task is up to you to take the emotion out of your decision making process and buy a carbine that you decide will get the job done

Maybe it's connected to him no longer working as a spokesman for them? I don't actually know.

Only piston ar id go close to is an lmt personally, but out of the 2 you chose, I'd take the lwrc. Paying 4k+ for an AR seems a little off to me. You could pick up an LWRC or LMT and walk away with 2k$ in ammo etc and still have one hell of a solid gun.

I cannot think of a single reason to buy a piston AR-15 with a 1:9 twist .223 Remington barrel without a staked castle nut for $2000+.

The Christensen is basically a check-list of "cool" things they can do with an AR-15, without any thought to how they function and interface with each other. (Their 1911s are pretty much the same way, what's worse.)

The same reson Noveske, LMT, and KAC didn't make it.

He probably just didn't think about it at the time.

At least, that's what I assume.

(I remember him saying that while he still worked with DD, btw.)

With that said, you don't strike me as someone that shoots enough to need a piston.

Save your money and get TWO quality DI guns. Then, attend training and learn what you do not know.

I bought a POF-415, and THEN went to training, to learn what I didn't know.

    Now I DON'T own a POF-415.
