how to identify stolen military optics

how can one tell if an Aimpoint Comp M4 or another aimpoint is stolen/liberated from the military? ive looked around online and theres no definite answer unless you talk to aimpoint direct and apparently theyre saying "we dont have the serial numbers, theyre all kept in sweden". ive read that if it says made in sweden that its government property and then theres others that have bounced back and said thats not true, i have a new in box aimpoint that says made in sweden. so whats the deal?

Why are you worried that's it's stolen from the military? I have seen my fair share of equipment that gets brought home. No one looks for it they are worried a out bigger stuff. If you have never known a supply officer they will tell you how much they dump in the ocean or put in the ground.

ive got a couple used M4s im lookin at buying for a good price. on a local facebook forum a guy offered an M2 for sale that was in awesome shape and a current soldier commented sayin it looks like its stolen bc it says "made in sweden" and that he needs to go back to the guy he bought it from and confront him. im helpin him and myself out bc it seems like most people, especially current military things the government is gonna come knockin if they find it it was government property. im not too worried about it, i have reciepts (i think lol)

Aimpoint knows what serial numbers are gubment property. Call them.

Be ready to do some splaining if they don't check out.... there was a case of just that here in AZ. You'll lose the sight, and the seller with be arrested.

Aren't all Aimpoints marked "made in Sweden" gov property? Was told that was a dead giveaway when looking at used Aimpoints, but could be FUD.

ETA: I'm talking about the M68 CCO models, whatever they are called Comp M2 maybe?

i just called up aimpoint and was told that there only way to tell is from the government. he said that theres no way to identify the optic of whether it was government owned and stolen or legitimate purchase just by looking at it. basically, if they dont have box/receipt dont buy it. he said you wouldnt be in trouble if you bought it but down the road you might get a knock on your door with them having a receipt wanting it back and youre out of money and an optic

Yeah I was just doing some research on it and it seems like a guy on TOS sold a bunch of them, CID tracked it down and confiscated them all.

    Wouldn't risk it.
