Sorry to hear about the loss of your animals.

Your guns are just guns. They may be hard to replace due to rarity but they ARE replaceable.

Best of luck in your search.

Have you heard back from BCM or Trijicon?

Jax, Most of the parts and springs you mention are contained in a LPK. Crush washer is cheap.

    OP, PM inbound.

Yeah the LPK does. Was just looking at it from my perspective of trying to find an entire quality LPK for him. I've probably got every thing to put together another lower kit minus the bolt catch and take down/pivot pin springs.

Yes I heard back from BCM. They said they can not help because they do not offer that service. It was a little bit upsetting but their is nothing I can do about it so I am not going to worry about it.

First off, sorry you're going through this. I went through this in high school but was lucky that nothing of value was lost. If the rifle and 1911 are able to be rebuilt let me know and I can help get you some parts. I'd like to order you some vz grips or something similar if you don't want vz. I'd also like to get you some of the plastic parts that melted.

    fire

last year i went to wallmart, was inside for 15 mins. walked out and the world was on fire! i got wrapped up in the bastrop complex fire here in texas. it was the worst fire in the state history. the next day i drove through ditches 14 miles in and out. i got mt pets, my guns."most" a chainsaw and a small box of tools , my new truck and left.
2 hours latter my house and everything i owned was gone , it was a nightmare. 200 feet high flame, 1600 homes gone in the blink of an eye. I will never forget how fast you can lose everything.
I got 7500 bucks to replace everything, what a joke! 1. 4 years later iam still buying things to replace what was destroyed.I was out today buying the stuff to stain my new decks, etc. And have to remove about 150 trees still, Iam almost done i hope.
Its not easy to get over something like fire, but it gets better day by day. And it makes the normal crap in life seem not so bad. good luck and my best wishes to you.
BTW, My safe was not fire rated and it melted it. The knives that were in it, The metal and all metal ive seen such as wrenches from friends homes, was ruined, i also called places to see if they would help replace thing like snap-on tools they wouldnt even give me a price break on a new set of sockets. I sent a Buck knife back and for 20 bucks they fixed it and it was completly destroyed. The wosrt one was direct tv they wanted us to pay for the recivers at like 300 bucks and we had their insurence on them, but they said their insurence didnt cover fire, it tooks weeks of screaming at them to even get tv back! I wasnt going to pay it and didnt. After talking to their CEO it got taken care of. it was one BS thing after another and it still going on today but at least not everday.

Steel, sorry to hear about your losses. Thanks for sharing, because these are hard-learned lessons that the rest of us can learn from.

Speaking of which, given the recent rise in prices, your posts have me rethinking my insurance coverage. It is now inadequate. My insurance needs have doubled due simply to those price increases. If I lost everything now, what was once fully covered is not anymore. Many of the rest of us are probably in the same situation. I'm going to contact my insurance company about it.

Sorry about your losses. I would definitely be really bummed about the pets.

My condolences on all of your losses....especially your pets.

It's a tough lesson to learn about the value of a gun safe beyond securing your weapons from theives....but it's a lesson that I've been preaching for decades. I too, had to learn the gun safe lesson the hard way by having 2 1911s stolen from my home back in the late 70s...I've since owned a gun safe whenever I've owned more than 2 guns.

The value of a good safe goes far beyond security for your weapons, they are also great for securing most of your other valuables as well.....cameras documents and jewelery and provides a peace of mind electrical alarms just can't give you.

As for INSURANCE, your homeowners insurance should cover up to a certain amount for your guns. My insurance covers up to $5000 for my guns, it won't replace everything I have in the safe but it will cover the 2 ARs.

    Expensive lesson learned from fire.

I fear this happening to me. While my current collection is worth less than $2000 I need to invest in a fire safe.
