Sincerest condolences for the losses, especially the animals.

As far as the damaged but not destroyed guns, listen to the others and see what you can salvage. In fact I see an opportunity here to show what level of recovery is possible after such devastation.

Give it your best shot and keep us posted please. Very interested to see what if any good can come of this.

Your BCG and barrel are most likely still useable, judging by the low heat exhibited by the limited melting, although both would require some kind of re-finishing. Same with the 1911.

If you decide to rebuild your rifle I have an upper receiver in need of a home and probably a TD pistol grip still in packaging you are welcome to. Just shoot me a PM.

Sorry about the loss of your four-legged friends,

It seems to me that if the fire got hot enough to ruin the metal on the guns that the plastic/polymer would have melted to a blob. I'd see if you can have em stripped and rebuilt...... specially that 1911.

Exactly why I volunteered to help. I think attempting a restoration of these would be an incredible learning opportunity. At this point, what is there to lose?

    So it is done then.

Steel you are now assigned this ground-breaking project. You have endless and ideal resources here waiting to help and there is nothing discernible standing in your way.

We thank you in advance for your participation.

After they are checked out by the factory, I can help out on the refinish. If owner can cover shipping and materials, I will provide all labor on the house. Keep me posted if you need the help...I'm gonna' guess they will check out fine.

I did not catch where you where from? I live pretty close to sentry safe and every month they do a scratch and dent sale, I paid 285$ for my 14 gun fire safe. If your in NY or a surrounding state it may be in your interest to PM me.

Steel if you're still there I'd like to clarify that no one, especially me, is looking to trivialize your losses. Hopefully when you're ready we can all share in a worthy and positive development that arises from what must have been misery.

Please decide what you will, but we're certainly here to help. If we do move foreword then I'd humbly suggest we started a new thread documenting the start to finish. Or at least sticky this one I suppose.

It truly would be an example of creating a positive from a negative and one day you'll look back and appreciate what you did for both yourself and the group.

Friend, so sorry to hear your pets perished.
The timing of this thread is amazing. I live 10 miles out of a small town with a volunteer fire dept. I've been looking at safes over the weekend. I found a Winchester at a good price, that is rated for 2 hours at 1400 degrees. Then I found the Sturdy Safe mentioned earlier. These guys claim to use commercial grade insulation. Their website contains a story and pix of a safe that survived a total burn-down. When the safe is opened the money and other papers inside are unburned. They also run a much heavier gauge steel than any other I looked at. I'm thinking it's time to get a safe and insurance, and this looks like the one.

I have it in my hands right now, it's from the April 2008 edition.

It was an Olympic Arms carbine that Arms Tech rebuilt and recoated the upper and lower with an experimental "Black Trac" surface that looks a lot like bed liner.

The carbine was in WAY worse condition than OP's, the pistol grip was actually burned off and the stock was a mess of unrecognizable molten plastic.

If a burned out Olympic Arms could be rebuilt, OP's BCM has very good chances of requiring little work done to it.

That sounds like a awesome idea and project. I will email BCM tonight and get things moving.

Thanks Bro! I am thinking a tactical flat dark earth. I don't want to get ahead of myself so we will wait to see if they check out.

I live in North Carolina so that is a little bit of a haul. Thanks anyway Bro!

I understand completely. I started this thread to try and keep this from happening to others in the same way it happened to me. I have never felt so violated as I did when I seen my house (sanctum) was on fire. If I can help another person avoid that same feeling or at least give them a little hope with this thread then I am all for it. Granted nothing can bring back my animals but bringing back my AR-15 and 1911 in these worrisome times would defiantly give me more piece of mind.

Sticky this thread or starting a new one is fine with me. I have been overwhelmed with the generosity of everybody here. Again
thank you all for the help. It would be cool to say my AR-15 and 1911 have been through the fires of hell and still work. LMAO!
