Electrolysis tank? I did my great-great-grandfather's top break S&W after it was in a fire in the early 2000's

Very sorry to hear about your losses. As with many things in life, I reckon you can chalk it up as a learning experiance and not make the same mistake twice.

That so totally sucks. That 1911 looked sweet!

This was what it looked like before. It had plenty of character from being carried daily.

whatever you do, don't shoot either of those guns before they are completely checked out. the heat may have weakened the metal, and no sense hurting yourself. sorry to hear about the animals

I need to get a safe. Unfortunately, my current living situation is temporary, so moving a safe in would be less than ideal. Losing my guns and associated stuff, however, would be catastrophic.

    Damned fine looking pistol!

Again...I'm sorry that happened to you.

Interested to see what BCM/Springfield/Trijicon might do for you. I hope they bend over backwards!

You don't have to worry about that. I know better than that. Thanks!

I know how that is. When you are renting or might be moving from place to place moving a safe can be hell.

Like everyone else, sorry about what happened. Big shout out to those who have offered their services! It's good to know that there is still that type of culture still in existence!

You know what? This thread has made me decide that its worth it to get a safe to try and save what I can. Even though it will be hell moving it in, out, and in again, its worth it. I already have renter's insurance, but some things are just irreplacable, especially nowadays.
So I'm going to check out safes at some local stores today, and I'll likely be buying one tomorrow. I'm just going to get one big enough for my most important rifles, ammunition, and handguns. Unfortunately, the local stores probably only have the major brands like Browning and other made in China stuff, but its what I'm limited to.
I will also be going to Lowe's today to get smoke detectors and some extinguishers.

EDIT: after looking at that link for Sturdy Safes, that might be what I go with... I will weigh my options.

Sorry to hear about your pets, that sucks Hopefully you can get the pistol and rifle repaired, at worse they can be replaced.
