So looks like the original goal of this thread is completely ****ed. Does anyone actually have any evidence that the "M4A1 GL/SSC" is actually being issued at all? Or is this just something that someone saw in a youtube video, so now they think they are being issued to everyone in the SOCOM realm?

Nope. The only evidence seems to be that Daniel Defense made 125 of the rails, 100 of which went to a certain unit for a 12.5" barreled upper. There is only speculation and second hand accounts of things like the URX II middy being used and who exactly uses this configuration. It's like the "recce" but more fabled.
I'd like to see if anyone could actually give some facts like
What unit (or branch at least) used them
What time frame they were used
What are some known specs
Are they still used
Stick
Board policy mandates I state that I shoot for BCM. I have also done work for 200 or so manufacturers within the firearm community. I am prior service, a full time LEO, firearm instructor, armorer, TL, martial arts instructor, and all around good guy.
I also shoot and write for various publications. Let me know if you know cool secrets or have toys worthy of an article...

That is what this thread was trying to establish. If they were issued, and what units they were issued to. Time frame. Procurement method. Parts. And possibly review.
