Do this with your rifle and get back to me:

That was in a completely dark range. Only the backstop lights were on 25yds away.

And then deny this is a sexy pistol:

AR pistols are hella FUN. No other reason to own one needed. Claiming otherwise makes you sound like the gun grabbers.

This is what I usually do. I have a pistol lower set aside just for this purpose while waiting for the tax stamp.
    I paint spaceship parts.

I figure, if you can't hit em with the full rifle power, you can always light them on fire with the muzzle blast.

That pic was part of a dark shoot R&D session on my new STD muzzle devices. I don't want to upset anyone before I get my site sponsorship dues paid, but you guys are going to love what I came up with. Beta testing units ship this week.

Same gun, same ammo, same everything - but with STD (cropped to eliminate vast empty darkness):

    1) I fully support people buying stuff just for the S&Gs.
    2) OP is aware that pistol ARs are a novelty.
    3) That's cool.
    4) My sole point was that 7.62 is a non-starter in that format, from form and function to recoil and blast.
    5) I'm not the "firearms police". It's your money, your priorities, and your decision.

I'll just stick my head in for a second. The other comments are spot on regarding AR pistols, but you're obviously going for it anyway.

Of the options you've listed, the only one I would ever consider with the expectation that it would work is the Noveske. Hands down you'll have a much, much higher quality firearm.

Another thing I'll mention is in regards to your comment about 5.56 being acceptable over your pistol and shotgun because you don't live with people. Pretty much all of the research says you've got it backwards. Spend some time reading through the stickies in the terminal ballistics forum here.

Your shotgun and pistols are much more likely to retain lethality after passing through interior walls than 5.56 with most non barrier blind loads. I know it doesn't make sense...but there is a greater concern regarding overpenetration with pistols and buckshot.

    Muzzle energy from a 7.5" .223 shooting 77gr bullets is double that of a 230gr .45 out of a 5" 1911.

Why are these useless range toys?

Muzzle energy alone does nothing to prove effectiveness.
Not putting it on the same level as a Red Ryder, but terminal ballistics and choosing the right ammunition require a bit more data.

Thanks for all the feedback thus far. Sounds like there's been one vote for the Noveske and none for anything else. I am strongly considering the POF because of the NP3 finish which I have thoroughly enjoyed on a couple of firearms.

Anyone else second the Noveske opinion and has anyone had experience with the POF pistol?
