Thanks - that DD mount looks like the ticket. I had considered a FSB mount to attach the sling to - I have even seen folks using the ramp, but I want to keep it free. DOes anyone think a rail on the hand guard would be solid enough?

I agree that makes way more sense, I just want to be sure there are no access, or tangling issues by having it on the side relative to the barrel.

I will post a pic of my new middy config that I ran in class (maybe tomorrow) and it will be very clear where/how my sling is setup.

No idea, but I wouldn't do it, personally.

Here's another alternative: SOC-C™ MODULAR FRONT BAND ADAPTER

Would a Rail bolted to the handguard work?

Yes. I have my sling attached to a sling swivel that is mounted directly behind my vertical foregrip which is all mounted to a rail screwed into the handguard.

Thanks - got a pic? If not, no biggie - I can visualize. If it's solid enough for abuse, I like this idea as well. I'm no anal-retentive and I'm not afraid of rails, (I have a Troy MCS for God's sake), but I want this to be as clean and uncluttered as possible. I like the look and feel of the classic M4 hand guards, but want the utility of a side sling mount. I may try adding a short rail for a sling stud - going to have to ponder this one. Still have time.

I run mine close to the receiver front and back. I chose well and didn't have to reconfigure my carbine at all this past weekend at the Vickers class. Larry had use using weak shoulder for an entire day.

GotM4's arrangement is literally exactly the same as mine.

God that's just awesome, (but I'm sure you already know that). I like the sling position in that photograph - it's exactly what I'm going to try for without the railed front end. Option now are really an attachment point for the front.
