    Re: Aero Upper won't fit

I concluded that my lower is out of spec. Two aero uppers and a red x arms upper all didn't fit. Weird how my buddies PSA upper fits. I'm going to my FFL/gunsmith tonight, see what he can do.

My aero lower is very nice and fits very snug :-D

It began in the '80s, it's better now than it used to be.

This has been my experience as well. 5 complete rifles off AP receiver sets and a few other mixed uppers/lowers from AP on different rifles (along with the other rifles built off of the 25 receiver sets purchased in 2010, old rollmark)...haven't had a problem yet. Like IG says, YMMV...

As others have said, use a nylon hammer and brass punches to get your upper and lower apart. Oil takedown and pivot pins liberally first. After a few takedowns, you should be able to do it by hand. I had some Seekins lowers that did the same thing with my DD uppers. Now they're tight, but I can take them down by hand - and I didn't damage my receivers.

What did OP finally do/what was the resolution? I'm in the same boat and too stressed to read this whole thing. My situation involves a registered SBR lower.

It was his lower that was out of spec not the aero upper.
Don't worry my aero lower is getting sbr-ed the fit was spot on.
Infact ill problably pick up another aero lower for a spr build I am planning.

I don't have an Aero, I was just curious how this turned out.

WS6, what brand upper and lower are you dealing with? Have you measured the lower and the upper receiver lugs to determine which part is out of spec?

Just another data point, but I picked up an Aero precision lower and thier COP upper (thier integrated rail system upper) and the machining work on both were quite good, better than I expected actually. Fit was excellent on both as well.

Haven't run the gun at all yet, but it's slated for a carbine course or two this year, unless the LaRue PredatAR I have on order shows up.
