Can someone measure the rear lug of their Aero Precision upper? I needed to compare with others before I complain to them as mine seems to measure .499". I will borrow a friends calipers to verify this in case mine are not accurate.

.4985 - .499 No fitment problems on my Umbrella or Stag lower

Thanks. My lower is .497". What is more recommended - shaving off the lower or the rear upper lug?

Are you saying that AO and Aero are the same?
As far as I can tell, AO is in Fla, and Aero is in Washington.
From the AO site though;
AO Precision supplies many of the most respected of the AR-15 rifle producers. These include Alexander Arms, Bulldog Barrels, Del-Ton, DSA, Krieger Barrels, Lothar Walther, LaRue Tactical, LWRC, Noveske, O.F. Mossberg, Primary Weapons Systems, Rock River Arms, SIG Sauer, E.R. Shaw Barrels, Smith & Wesson, Spike’s Tactical, Wilson Arms and Wilson Combat

I just went through my box of Aero stripped uppers I received recently.
They were all within .002 of each other.
On the practical side of this issue...
In the AR competition world I've seen guys reject uppers that were more than .001 out of spec. They want them TIGHT!.
I've also seen guys bring rubber mallets with them to the range so that they can open and close their receivers.
It all depends on what's important to you.
Bump. Id like to get my question answered.
Based on this thread, it seems to me (just an end user) that a bad experience with a company called AO Precision, was used to somehow blame an out-of-spec lower, on a company that does not only offer IMO a great product (Aero precision), but has nothing to do with the company referenced that the person actually had problems with (AO).
Guess ill give an update. I just recived a stripped aero upper a few days ago. I test fitted to my stripped aero lower everything seems to fit very well. Maybe slightly better than my LMT. It well be awhile before I build the upper but every thing seems to be great so far.
