SPR's and some limited run models have spiral fluted barrels.
I have a LWRC M6A2 upper I bought it a few years ago in 2008; not bad, zero complaints with it. A little more push and more front heavy than a DI gun. But then again, a H&K 416 with 10.4" barrel is also barrel heavy, so if you want a light gun don't buy gas piston. I am looking to have the barrel exchanged to 10.5" so I can put it on one of my SBR lowers, so we'll see of I can get a hold of anyone at LWRC to re-barrel the upper at a reasonable cost.
That being said, Grant is right in his assessment that a LWRC can't do anything more special than either a Colt, BCM, or Daniel Defense rifle. I bought the gas piston upper because I could afford it plus I wanted to see what the big was. So far am I have not jumped on the band wagon and probably won't either
A new morsel of IC information courtesy of LWRC via their forum:
"The Ic architecture is replacing everything. The switch has been rough. Lowers are perfect. Jesse made some changes to uppers in December and it again delayed stuff. Perfectionism sometimes bites you in the ass.

I've had exceptional service from mine so far.
I WANT MY IC, AND I WANT IT NOW!!!
LWRC's silence about their progress and a realistic delivery date is KILLING ME!![]()

Latest rumor from the LWRC forum. The mystery missing part has arrived, but the new forecast shipping date has slipped to sometime in March.
In November, it was December; December, January; January, February; and now March. In March, it will probably be April. 54 weeks and counting since I placed my order.
LWRC customer service doesn't respond to questions about the IC's status. No one's allowed to talk about the IC on their forum. The leaders of the cult on the LWRC forum miss no opportunity to extoll the virtues of this company or chastise anyone who criticizes them.
Never ever again will I order an LWRC product that is not on a dealer's shelf! This rifle better be so damn good that I'll someday forget about how terrible the purchasing process was.
I was kinda hoping that LWRC would threaten to leave Maryland like Beretta.
"Now, that being said, my LGS told me he was told by LWRC that the parts that they have been waiting on from an outside source are in and that has been one of the holdups. He was told, and here we go, ducking, delivery will be in March. LWRC has stated here that ALL 500 will go out the door at the same time.
We’re almost there Grasshopper."
