I guess I am a traditionalist. I liked them better with the carry handle and the cleaning kit that I didn't use, and the restricted rollmark. The carry handles are great for aligning railed forends. As mentioned above, the side sling is great for a KISS set up.

    What's next? Larger trigger pins..?

Sometimes, but not usually, I will use the carry handle on the one SBR barreled AR I have, which is in the 6933 configuration. I guess I do it just to move the gun around with just one hand, safely of course, since it's so convenient.

As far as wanting an A1 grip, just pull out your Dremel and shave it down. I personally can't stand the upper finger bump either.

Eh, I guess I would rather see Colt drop some of the unpopular accessories and keep the prices the same instead of raising their MSRP's for 2013.

The brushes from the cleaning kit were nice to have, but I much rather use brass cleaning rods than the included steel ones. I personally want a Colt carry handle for a future project, the vast majority of 6920's had the carry handles either sold off or thrown in their owner's parts bin so its no great loss. A Troy would have been preferable, but Colt is buying a lot of parts from Magoul right now for the various Magpul editions of the 6920 so it only makes sense for them to get the rear sights as well. I do wish the sling would have stayed, even though it really wasn't much.

Mines an '09. I haven't seen the cleaning kit, carry handle, sling and mags since I pulled it out of the box. I'm fine with the new set up if it keeps the prices down.

According to some specs for the 6920 Socom it now comes with an H2 buffer:

    I am wondering:

    1. Do all 6920s or just the Socom now come with the H2 buffer?

    2. Could this cause function issues with quality .223 ammo and require 5.56mm to run reliably with a 16" barrel and carbine length gas system? All my experience is with the H buffer in the Carbine gas system.

They should have been doing this anyway.

I'm pretty sure Colt has been shipping the SOCOM models with an H2 buffer since the beginning of that model's introduction. I'm also pretty sure that their normal carbines with government and lightweight profile barrels still use H buffers.

Latest Generation of the Colt LE6920 (2013)

Do you know the date of Manufacture?
If you take off the Hand Guards look up by the front sight & there is a date on the barrel.
    Mine is 6/12.
The caring handle is useful if you don't want to mount a scope.
Some do & others chose not to. Some use a Quick Detach & have it both ways.
Colt is Military spec., I believe that is why they sent along the Cleaning Rod & brushes. The same rod & & brushes I used on my M-16 in Vietnam, Nov. 1967-Nov.1968. Yes, they can bend if you are not careful. Vietnam they were free & hard to find sometimes. Lake City Ammo wasn't.
Colt is trying, & is saving money by choosing not to use the Handle & Rod. It doesn't really matter. They are still very hard to find.
    It is what it is?
