(An LE6920SOCOM with 14.5'' barrel, non-FF KAC rail, and CAR stock alone would be great.)
I agree. I would much prefer it if the SOCOM model were a little more "authentic" with a pinned 14.5" barrel that has the proper M203 cuts under the handguards, but the current model is what it is and I really want that lower to use as a base to start my forray into SBR's.

Like the Bravo EAG tactical package. Or something.

They should do some sort of package like that.

So basically you want an issued m4 (minus burst)? Why? I'm actually curious, it's not my favorite set up by far.

There are a shitload of people who'd buy into that, and it's a great basic setup for beginners with parts that won't break.

It's better than a new guy buying a Bushmaster, a C-More optic, and a UTG rail.

That is true, maybe even for nostalgia!

I'd actually buy one so I can train my airmen before they deploy with the weapon (more or less) that they'll actually use, not one of my extremely non-standard ARs.

DSG, iirc, actually used to sell this minus the optic. I say "used to" because they're obviously out of stock.

If I got that, I'd only add an aimpoint pro and sling.

Hell yeah. I didn't know you were military. Thank you for your service, Sir.

Also, I've been kinda wanting an M4 carbine clone for myself, just to have one. The only reason I haven't done it is because I can't logically justify it. My brain says "Well... it can't do anything that your guns can't do already... and that money could go to ammo."

And for nostalgia, yeah there'd be that market too. I know a few people built A2 guns for that exact reason. And a lot of people were unhappy that Colt didn't build an A4 gun for that reason as well.

    Incorrect. Says M3 on it.

    Agreed,

The barrel on the SOCOM model is absolute bullshit.

Interesting - definitely a special/unique packaging run by MagPul FOR Colt. Thanks for clarifying.

I was thinking of doing the opposite thing, but I decided against it because gas prices went up and the MBUS technically works fine.
IME, matechs are sights waiting to break. I am not a fan of their (lack of) durability. I'd love to have a KAC or Troy sight on it. How much would that push the total cost of the rifle to the right though? I'd rather have a cheaper Colt with no frills and do what I want to it with the parts I want. I'm not a fan of cloning a base GI rifle either.

The cleaning kit should be included. It is needed in the field, if you want to knock out a stuck case in the chamber. I always have one in my bag. Can use it for any gun on any hunting or shooting trip. I use it about once a year to save myself or someone else and it always happens at the wrong time.

I'd rather have two 20 round OEM aluminum magazines than one 30 rd PMAG.

OEM 20 round aluminum are always in demand. PMAG are a dime a dozen.

This set up is much more "average gun owner" oriented.
I agree. Bottom sling mount is worthless. 20 round Colt mag is preferable to Pmag. And Troy (or KAC) rear sight would be preferable to MBUS.
