Any Vortex Strikefire results from long use?

Probably a confusing title. I need to know if anyone has put a Strikefire to good constant use for any length of time.

Has anyone had the Strikefire for a year or two now and if you have what is your opinion? How has it held up, how has the zero held?

I have one that I am using now and I cannot decide if I should upgrade to an Aimpoint PRO or similar Aimpoint.

I am not trying to compare the two rds. I know Aimpoint is a better product overall...but people have given the Strikefires good reviews. Im trying to figure out if I need to spend the extra $400+ for another rds.

This will be on my duty rifle, going in and out of a vehicle, getting knocked around....not a plinker/safe collection. So that is a factor.

    Thanks

I've got 3. Had one for about 2 years? Maybe slightly less... went through a class and normal range use for that time frame. Guess 4-5k rounds. Its been on and off the gun. Held zero.

Sounds promising. Did you change the mount or use the stock setup with the thumb screw?

Mine has been on an M&P 15-22 for almost two years and I have to re-zero (fine tune only) frequently (almost every range session). The problem, I think, is more in the mount than in the optic. Simply closing the front and rear covers torques the optic. The optic itself is pretty nice. If my life might depend on it, however, I'd probably choose something else. I've accidentally turned it off, or switched it too low to be seen, and the battery seemingly rattled loose once (I took the battery out, put it back in, and it worked). I have a PRO on my 5.56 and would prefer to have that on a working carbine.

The zero holding is my concern. Batteries will die and I can get them at my job. Thanks for the info.

I have had one of the older models (before they changed the "buttons") on an 870 for about 3 years. It has been through a lot of rounds....buck, slugs, birdshot. The battery cap is easy to crossthread...and the power can get turned on very easily in transit. It has held perfect zero through lots (gotta be 700+) of slugs and buck. I use it for deer hunting and it's awesome. This is with the original mount too. I still don't think I would use it for duty use just because of the "power button getting bumped" issue...

I've used the provided mounts on them all. I'm not gentle on my stuff, guns are tools. They get tossed in the truck, behind the seat, dropped. Its no more or less stable than any other optic. If your losing zero from closing a lens cap you have another issue.

That is always the way to go. I just read a lot of good reviews so I thought I would ask. Aimpoint PRO it will be...most likely. Thanks fellas.

I just got a PRO and I really like it. Pick that one up on the EE he has it listed for a good price. I have a PA micro dot that has held up fine and I had to really get used to the 2 MOA dot on the PRO. The PA seems easier to find but the PRO should be more accurate at range. Now I have to pick another one up when I update my second rifle.
