I thought the VX6 was only $899? Also the Razor and the IOR would still be under $1600 including the mount, I think.

What about the Bushell SMRS 1-6.5x 24mm? With mount should be at or under budget.

I'm generally a fan of Vortex, but I don't like the Razor 1-6 for some reason. Maybe it's because it looks so chunky. I'm not a fan of the VX-6 either, though the only Leupold I can compare it to is the VX-R patrol at Cabela's.

The 3 options in the lead are the Bushnell, the IOR, and the USO, with the Bushnell being the cheapest option. I really wish I could get hands on a few of these, but I doubt that will happen outside of a random range encounter.

Low Drag, can you post or PM me some pics of your setup when you get a chance. An update on your range trips would be helpful too.

Unfortunately, it's a bit of a drive for me to get to a 200yd+ range. Most of the outdoor ranges around St. Louis are only 100's. Any unstaffed conservation ranges or the Mark Twain Nat'l Forest is 1 1/2 - 2 hour drive from me. There are, however, a few conservation areas that allow coyote hunting were I could get opportunities for 200 yard+ shots.

If anyone knows a 2A-friendly farmer/landowner around St. Louis, please let me know. Besides myself, I know a few responsible coworkers who wouldn't mind paying a reasonable fee for access to some decent shooting land.

I've been working up our taxes and it looks like our return is gonna be negative this year... I guess the mortgage write-off and child tax credit isn't worth much anymore. I think I'm gonna brew on this for awhile before I buy anything.

I don't have any pics of my set up yet. If the weather does not put too many piles of snow in my way I plan to get to the range Sunday for a box test or two and just mil-ing at 100 yards going up vertical only to see if I get any drift (to verify I have the scope on level).
I have to say I like the 6X and the DFP but have not shot it up close for speed yet, I'm sure it'll work great.

I'll see if I can get a pic of it at the range Sunday.

For your price point I would look at the Vortex 1-6x or the Bushnell 1-6.5x with the 2nd focal plane reticle. Both great scope at most any price point.

I have a good bud who has the GRSC 1-6x and while I like the reticle and the build quality is there, the daylight illumination just isn't.

The only variable power scopes you will find that have truly daylight visible reticles are those that only illuminate a center red dot like the S&B ShortDot, Swaro Z6i, Vortex 1-6x, Leupy Mk6, etc.

The 2nd focal plane version of the Bushnell 1-6.5x looks to be about as good as it gets in-terms of a daylight visible FULL reticle illumination but it still doesnt look to be close to the brightness of the dot on the Vortex, Z6i, etc..

One other note, USO has 2 1.5-6X units. One w/ DFP and one without.

This one has the reticle on the front and a few options of reticles. I think it starts at $1,310 before you change reticles, turrets and illum.

    Low,
What rings do you have? I don't know USO rings or mount would co-witness with irons? I've seen they have lots of options.

It's the LaRue Tactical SPR / M4 1.93" QD LT135. This is the high mount.

Here's the post I have for it.
