Gotcha and thanks! Would like to try out that switch on a long gun as well.

Just curious if anyone has more of a long-term update on the APL.
I've got a bunch of survival guides on my Kindle, so I'm ready for an EMP.

I ordered one from Optics Planet earlier this week, but I received an email the next day saying they were back ordered 5-7 weeks, so I cancelled and placed an order for a Streamlight TLR-3 instead. I may pick up an APL later once they become available

I got to play around with one for a few days. I'll be picking one up. I really like the switch and the slimness of the light. Has good out put also.
Easiest light to mold for holsters also.

I've been using an APL at work since about March. I have it mounted on an issued M&P9.

I replaced a Surefire x300u with this light. The main reason for me was the switch. DG switches are not authorized by my agency for non-SWAT.

While I prefer a 500 lumen light, I can live with 200 lumens.

There are too many times I need to activate the light one handed. Usually when the other hand is doing something like opening a door, moving a curtain, ect, while conducting a building search.

I also liked the size and weight if the APL vs. the Surefire. With the APL, the balance and feel of my gun feels about the same as if there were no light attached.

The gun/APL combo works in the same Safariland duty holster as I used for the Surefire.

I had JM custom make me an OWB holster for the M&P/APL. Excellent holster.

To date I have about 1,000 rounds fired with this light attached. We recently transitioned to a new M&P9 after carrying the original M&P9 for a bit over 6 years. No issues with the light so far.

I coat the lens of my lights with a thin layer of chap stick prior to shooting/training. Makes cleaning the lens a matter of wiping with a soft rag. The carbon buildup on the body of the light cleans up with Hoppies.

The only concern I have for the APL vs. the Surefire is the plastic body. I could beat someone to death with a Surefire x300u, and the light would still be GTG. Not as convinced about the durability of the APL's body if whacked against something hard. But then either light is attached to a polymer pistol frame, so beating someone in the head is something one should avoid, no matter the light attached.

To me, the two selling points were the ease of one-handed use of the switch, and the smaller size.

If Surefire ever comes out with a pistol light in the 200 lumen range that is sized around one battery, and/or designs their switch to make the DG not needed, then I may rethink my light choice.

Used the above pictured set up, G19 APL in the appendix rig, at the Hackathorne class over the weekend. First light is nice and light. I didn't really notice it being there. Light out put was good, nice beam. My only gripe is that with my avg. sized hands when I move my thumb down from the frame to activate the light my thumb ended up on the body of the light, instead of on the switch. Tried it on both my m&p and G19 same on each. I dont have this issue with neither my TLR 1 or 3. I will still be picking up my own as I think the good out weights the bad. Ken said he thinks its the best light out there for the money and was also using one on his 1911.

if I missed it I apologize but will this fit in holsters made for TLR, Surefire, etc.? specifically a Safariland ALS?..

Mine is sitting in a holster made for a TRL-1 I just sat it there didnt do it to wear out. I'll check and see what retention is like. It is in one of my personally made holsters.

I find that my thumb seems to fall on the switch better on my M&P then on my Glock.

I'll also put in a plug for the company… after buying one a couple of weeks ago, I was playing with it at night and suddenly the light output dropped about 35%, just randomly. New batteries and some percussive maintenance did nothing to fix it, but when I emailed Inforce they overnighted a new model to me with a return slip and packaging for the broken model. The new one has been great as much as I have abused it…*so far so good, and great customer service.
