Oh my God not a delton!!!! Your going to go blind or deaf.

I've got one that's from 07-08. 3-4 classes with it, thousands of rounds. Killed a few deer, lots of squirrels change the buffer, check the spring, keep a eye on normal wear parts and you'll be fine. Mine has never malfunctioned, if it has my concussion inflicted brain doesn't remember.

That's just too funny! Ha ha!

I'm thinking of selling the Del-Ton in this crazy inflated price market and ordering a Larue Predatar. I don't mind the wait since I have the Colt also.

I'd swap out the trigger, then shoot it like I stole it.

My guess is the majority of the people on this and the other site will NEVER wear out a barrel, let alone an entire weapon.

'Course, it's your money. If it were me, I'd use it for ammo or reloading components and actually get use out of the thing.

sounds like it is mostly good to go. I would not turn loose of a working carbine, in this questionable time, until I had the replacement in hand. just my .02

    Thumbs up

Agreed. Thanks for the good advice!

My Geissele G2S is on the way for the Del-Ton. And, I'm picking up a spare BCG when things settle down. That's something I needed to keep on hand anyway regardless of the rifle make. It can back up both carbines.

Like you guys say, it is tough to let go of a great shooting and reliable carbine in this uncertain time.

If you are not going to take it into combat, then shoot it until something finally breaks, fix, repeat.

Since you already own it, and it works, run it like a rented government mule.

I'd like to add my +1 to this statement!

I get a few of these through the shop on a pretty regular basis. Mostly from gents like you who've lost confidence in it's reliability.

Do you have a "personal gun bunny" or a reputable smith/armorer in your area?

My advice would be to take the wep to him/her and have them check it over for reliability issues.

If there are none present then just go shoot the damned thing till the gas tube glows and the barrel wilts.

And YES I'd definitely replace the trigger with the G2S. (fabulous trigger)

Solid advice. That is exactly what I have decided to do with the Del-Ton. I have a great local smith that does a ton of AR work. I'll take it over and have him go through it to check everything. From my own examinations of the bolt face, barrel, etc., I can't see any evidence of premature wear or failure at all. Everything looks the same as my Colt which has equivalent # of rounds through it.

The only doubts I have about the Del-Ton originated once I began surfing forums and reading all the negative posts on forums about them. One thing about Del-Ton I have learned is they build to a price point. Their high end products are built with superior components and care than their basic budget models. From what I have seen and experienced personally, the TRX model is a solid high-quality AR.

AND, Roger that on the Geissele G2S trigger! I installed it Thursday night and WOW what a huge difference! Just astounding how great that trigger feels and operates. Love, love, love that trigger! The only downside is, now my Colt trigger feels awful in comparison. So, I don't have any choice other than to put a Geissele in it too now.

I'll be sure to keep you guys informed as time and rounds go by and let you know of any issues or lack thereof with my Del-Ton TRX.
