    Leangains

    Anyone here doing Leangains?

I'm going to give it a try. In fact, I'm transitioning into it now. But I can't workout totally fasted, because I can only lift after work. So, I break my fast at noon, and lift at 4pm, so I've had a few hours to digest the first meal. Other than that, I can follow the program pretty much as described on Berkhan's website: biggest meal of the day right after lifting at 5pm, then a slightly smaller one at 8pm.

Questions: how much am I missing out by not being able to lift at the end of the fast?

Do I still need to take BCAAs before? (my post-workout protein shake has BCAAs in it).

I have to go to bed right after the last meal. Will I be missing out on anything by doing this?

no, in fact i've discussed this money times that you can get all the benefits from IF by just intermittent carb restriction. There's no reason to fast from protein as our research in our lab showed that you can't 'make up' for low protein at one part of the day by eating a crap load more at another part of the day.

not really, referring to just putting the majority of your carb intake around your workout and keeping carbs low the rest of the day.

My position: Some form of carb cycling can benefit lean people trying to get leaner. Personally, for the average person trying to lose some fat, The basic route (reduce cals, improve macros, eat meals in regular intervals, exercise, etc) works fine. IF is a fad, and not an original one at that and as you point out, there's really no benefit to not getting protein in regular intervals throughout the day.
