    buffer spring

After reading about the springco buffer springs, are they really worth it? Ive read for an hour with the search , I have a carbine gas system with a 16 barrel, Some seem to like them, some dont.

I just ordered a h-buffer from bcm and want to stick with stock power spring like the white from springco, or really, should i just order a colt ss spring for a spare? most things i found were on middy rifles. just looking for ideas, thanks.

If it helps the rifle is a sig m-400 which shouldnt be over gassed from what ive read here. thanks again....

Also a good place to order a colt spring???

I wouldn't sweat the spring too much.

IMO, it's probably the most forgiving item.

Stock is just fine, the extra power springs don't usually hurt things.

There is a range of strength that works well. Too weak or too strong don't work.

    buffer spring

Clint said it in simple terms. I'm a little more wordy.

You'll get a mixture of opinions about the extra power springs. Many will say they aren't necessary. Many will swear by them. It's good to hear both sides, but its most important to understand "why".

As fouling builds inside the chamber there is increased resistance on the BCG as it cycles. But if you keep it well lubricated it should function just fine.

But what if you don't keep it lubricated well enough? That's where the extra power spring can be a plus. Well lubed, clean and properly gassed carbines shouldn't have negative issues with the blue spring and an H buffer. The extra power might help some day.

I wouldn't worry about an extra power action spring. I don't see why you should need it.

Now this is coming from the Springco rep, but according to him their springs are rated for 100,000+ cycles vs a standard is roughly 5,000 cycles.

    Exactly.

I use the Sprinco white (std) and blue (heavy) with no noticeable change in function/feel on BCM middy 16s.

I don't use them to change the performance of the gun, I use them so I can pretty much buy once and not worry about wearing it out and causing cycling problems down the line.

I think what i was getting at, was using the white stock power spring from springco and the bcm h-buffer. Staying with the stock rate, but gaining the extra life of the spring for long term.

Altho i will buy the blue to try later, I dont have enough rounds through the gun to be used to it yet. Glad to say theres nothings wrong, it ejects perfect and locks back with .223 rounds etc.

Is there any reason to not make the switch to the white spring for the higher cycle life, Has anyone had problems with them??? They are twice to three times the price of a stock buffer spring. But who would mind if it last forever....

    thanks...

Buy the white to mimic the standard carbine power and you get a spring that will outlast the barrel.

It will pay for itself in the long run unless you are swayed by the next best buffer system to come along and scrap it to try something else.

Yes thats what i was getting at, Iam not gona changed to any new system, just the h-buffer and a good spring. So if the shtf its one less thing to worry about. I also ordered the extractor kit from bcm, rings etc. I dont need them right now but they seem to be good stuff.

Just trying to get the best stuff, parts wise, I can get. Stuff thats gona last and last. Who knows what the future of parts will be. With whats going on..

FWIW- I only use Springco springs in my personal guns.
