Thanks guys. I know I should have not dove into this head first lol
If you're going to be building a few AR's I would go ahead and get the right tools. If not, find a competent gunsmith and just have him do it.

I found a reputable local 'smith to do the upper work on mine and he is charging me $75 to remove a barrel from my upper, install a new barrel, install gas block, install/pin/weld a battlecomp, install new barrel nut and FF handguard. I could have purchased a few tools but for the same price I can take it to a gunsmith and have the stuff installed.

I usually like to do things myself, that way I know it is done right, but if I can sublet some of it, pay less, and not have to put up with some frustration, I think it is worth it to pay someone to do it.

Well I have all the tools, however, I think I might need Thr PRI barrel but wrench as it attaches to more teeth and seems more solid. That may be my problem, as I expirences the same issues with a castle but a while ago, my Brownells wrench got it off after the RRA POS could not.

Though I may just go to the smith with a white flag. though I want to be able to do this myself.

Most of these questions have been answered before. You need AeroShell 33MS. Or my offer still stands to assemble it for you, pro bono.

Thanks, I am just so far in now that I do not want to give up, lol.

I dremeled the delta ring off- did not think I could- I sprayed the barrel nut with PB blaster, tried to just put constant slow pressure on the nut, its still a no- go.

I think it is my wrench. I do not think it is perfectly aligned and is allowing it to slip off the teeth and ruin them.

So I guess this thread is just me ranting, and for your enjoyment of my struggles

I am waiting for the PRI wrench, if that does not work...

What wrench do you have currently? Why are you trying to get the barrel off? Looks like you should have just shaved the FSB off and went that route

The plan was to remove the barrel nut to put on the DD MFR nut for the Omega X rail, and keep the FSB.

I have the Brownell's combination wrench. It is not going on evenly for some reason. One of teeth is always engaging the barrel nut and it slips.

The new wrench did the trick.

But now I the taper pins will not go all the way in. The one closest to the receiver is almost through the hole but will not go the rest of the way. The other one stops before it gets to the hole. I alligned the best I could before trying to get them in. I pretty sure I am hammering them the right way, The smaller sides were beat more than the bigger ones, so I can tell that way.

Start by eyeballing the fsb. Push in one pin with your thumb and wiggle the fsb while you're pushing in the first pin. The pins should walk in with thumb pressure as far as yours are currently. And make sure the pins are going in correctly. Small end of the pin through the big opening in the fsb.
