I didn't know these where out there.
Looks like I'll be ordering one.

Those covers look like they would really really get on my nerves.
Wouldn't it be faster and safer to either wipe the lens with a shirt tail or even your finger instead of have to mess with a rubber cover?
No, it would not. I have used optics and worn glasses all my life. Using your shirt-tail, or especially a finger for cleaning, is a good way to make a bad situation worse. If you live in a world where you can exchange the Micro when it goes south, clean the lenses with sandpaper for all I care. But I have to pay for all my shooting expenses out of my own pocket. I clean the lenses with care and try to protect them. The IO cover makes it easy to pop the caps when the rifle is needed. I just wish the caps flipped up or down when deployed instead of to the side. If the caps are not snapped together, they do not completely block peripheral vision and prevent the shooter from taking the shot. Besides, there are still shooters who close one eye and that doesn't stop them.
These covers are made to protect the body of the Micro from bumps and bangs and help keep the lenses clear until the sight is needed. If the shooter is going on patrol, the shooter should deploy the caps before heading out. If it starts raining or it get really dusty, the shooter has the option of closing the caps. IO covers are not perfect (nothing is) but like any piece of kit, the shooter must decide if it fits their mission and must decide how best to use it.

Stowage of the caps on the left side of the optic is no issue with me being left handed, but are others finding it cumbersome?
Waiting VERY patiently for my FDE version. I got a few blacks through the kickstart and my review can be found below. All I can say is that snow is impervious to this thing! HAHA!

does any one know what kind of time line we are looking at for
OD-green?
Must be soon...they posted a pic on Facebook recently of a box full of OD IOs.
Full disclosure: I'm the editor of Calibre Magazine, which is Canada's gun magazine. In the past I've done consulting work for different manufacturers and OEM suppliers, but not currently. M4C's disclosure policy doesn't seem to cover me but we do have advertisers, although I don't handle that side of things and in general I do not know who is paying us at any given time.
Don't own one yet, but this strikes me as a great, great idea, and something long-overdue for the H-1/T-1 series units.

I've still got some difficult days ahead, no doubt, but for now, each day seems to bring about an improvement of some sort, and life is good. I have lost a lost of weight (and not the good sense), I'm weak, and I still have to deal with any number of annoyances related to my condition, but I am very much alive. Can't really help but feel grateful for that. =]
