Yes sir. Funny you ask that because I just ordered a BCM Mid length light weight yesterday. I am wondering the same thing to see how well it pairs. From what I hear, nearly 40 different uppers have been tested on it and they all pair just fine. I guess we will find out on Monday though.

I may let you know by tues.... I just ordered 3 complete lowers... raring and ready to go.. I spent considerable time on the phone talking to Tim, nice guy.. been around Fabbing AR stuff, including full auto a long time.. I don't see the cosmetic front mag area affecting functionality under any condition... to attack that area as such just shows the ignorance of the so called expert.. but then, that's ok, we all got opinions, some makes sense, some are laughable..

Then allow me to help you understand in as good natured a way as is possible here. Working carbines are normally carried on the body with gear -- often a considerable amount of it, depending upon the application or setting. The aggressively-flared front portion of the magwell, which really seems to be the main selling point of this lower, is going to be prone to fouling itself on everything from one's sling to his plate/mag carrier to who-knows-what-else.

This is why the typical M4C member is going to view this as more of a toy than a tool. It isn't that we think these lowers are of poor quality or in any way short on creativity; merely that they seem to be optimized more for visual impact than for practical utility. There are many places where such things are celebrated; M4C just doesn't tend to be one of them.

Thank you Chief, I appreciate your input and view. At least that is one possibility in a particular situation.

I take hating to the next level. Look up hating in the dictionary, and there's a picture of me flipping off a guy holding a light weight barreled AR with a ****ing TUBE rail on it.

Seriously, if you think otherwise, I'll have them finished but I just can't see anything happening to the pin holes with a semi auto rifle. I could understand going rock and roll but egging out those holes on a semi auto rifle is pretty rare on anything with less than a 20,000 round count. Maybe you've seen more than me but I've only ever heard of this issue happening with 6065 aluminum and full auto rifles. In the end however, Anti Roll Pins will prevent all of this.
It simply begs a pretty obvious question:
Why expound on the superiority of alodizing (which I still have not seen called out on any small arms parts) while leaving the parts of the receiver unfinished (if indeed it is unfinished) where corrosion and wear will most effect function?

The machining is indeed impressive in its execution.

Lastly, and unrelated to the above quote, this forum tends to cater toward a different segment of the firearms owner community:

The purpose of M4Carbine.net is to provide a forum to share professional and technical information to the shooting community. The forum is open to military, law enforcement, and recreational shooters.

Don't bring something up if aren't willing to defend it. Nothing necessarily wrong with focusing on aesthetics or wanting to be "different", but expect to have it challenged.

Again, I in no way said that the magwell design on this lower was superior to anything else. I said the inside of the magwell was different and a lot of design went into that. Other than the inside of the magwell, I don't know of anything else that I would say is different from anything else besides the looks category. I also stated that the 7075 aluminum was heat treated to a higher standard than what is done commercially. The aluminum was heat treated to T7351 and then Alodined to Mil-spec. You mention corrosion but I don't think that's even possible with the type of aluminum used and how it was treated. Unless you let it sit in salt water for a year or so.
