After a mt bike wreck that left me unable to run more than a mile or so...I was left with lower impact alternatives like the elliptical.
For 3-4 years, I did 45 minutes to an hour on the elliptical at a steady pace. Sometimes I would ramp up the resistance but never did HIIT on the machine.
In the last 6 months, I gave up on this and went to lifting dumb bells, kettlebells and doing HIIT on the same elliptical machine. I have noticed MUCH more difference in my waist and in tone and definition.
I know this is not really scientific in nature but it is what I have noticed now going on age 47.
The more I push myself and "wear myself out" during a workout...the more I notice results later on. Mixing it up from day to day also helps and keeps it all from getting boring.
Looking forward to adding a TRX trainer to my routine (which is growing) in the next month or so.
Your website is a treasure trove of information...I will keep reading.

PS: this Spartacus workout is going to kill me...or make me really lean! LOL I like it...but I admit it is hard for someone like me.
