And rail clips wiggled like a mofo on it... which was annoying becase that fat bastard was too wide to run KAC panals.

I'll never understand how a company that makes RAILS, can't get them to spec. It's not like they make rails as a secondary product line.
I don't know exactly when you were using your fat out of spec MI rail but in my experience everything seemed fine. It isn't heavy, it isn't fat and i honestly liked it better than my DD EZ CAR. If i'm going to compare it to my Centurion C4 or DD RIS II's it doesn't stand up to those as well but they are in a different league. There isn't anything particularly bulky or bad about the Gen 2 MI drop in... and my QD swivels fit snuggly in the sockets . Cheer up man haha

I got to use one on a BCM rifle and liked it a lot. It was very solid with no movement yet was easy to remove.

I would most likely buy them vs free float rails for all of my guns as I don't really need the absolute best accuracy for the ranges I shoot at.

It isn't as nicely machined as my DD Lite 12.0 but it is a very nice drop-in rail.

Aside from the out of spec rail problems that plagued MI for a while... the rest is just personal preference. If the rail isn't too bulky for you, that's great. MI surely isn't the only company with rail dimensions that I don't like.

I strictly use MI products but order from PrimaryArms. MI products fit, are lightweight, clean, and affordable. Some of the other pretty handguards out there are way out of my price range.

I'm pretty cheap when it comes to handguards... that's why I tried MI at all. My main pick is KAC RAS Blems. $150... done.

I prefer the KAC RAS as well but they are almost the exact same dimensions and the KAC is ~4oz heavier than the MI.

MI gen2 drop in is 2.3"x2.43"
And now i can't find what the KAC dimensions are but i'll find it out and get back... drunk guy with calipers says 2.21"x2.32" so i apologize about the spotty info but hope this got it cleared up.

Thats interesting. The MI gen 2 feels "fat" to me as well vs the RAS. Way more than 1/16th but I guess it's all in my head. Thanks for posting the numbers

    Love mine...

Got a mid-length one new on GunBroker...Installed it on a BCM 14.5 mid upper and it fits perfect, very tight. My QD swivel seems slightly loose, but no fails thus far. Very high quality, light weight, rock-solid fitment.

I don't know why people don't just invest in a Dremel and go with the MI 2pc FF gen 2, it takes less than 15 minutes to take off the necessary parts and screw the 6 screws with some Loctite and be done with it.

I think MI has top notch products at a price that is very competitive. The only people that "poo poo" them are those that feel that their gear is always the best option. I agree that there may be better looking rails, but then again the MI G2 has one of the thinnest profiles of any rail system made. Value and appearance is in the eye of the beholder.

Think MI is crap? Other rail systems have experienced known failures, just look around because there are posts regarding those failures.
