Reloading Data - Winchester 63 gr. PSP

I'm looking for some load data for my father. He got a bunch of Winchester 63 grain PSPs, but we can't find load data in any of his manuals.

I've tried a a few different Google searches and no dice, and nothing here.

Can any of you point me to a manual or PDF that has load data for that projectile? He's got a few different powders at home and we can pretty easily find various powders locally. Just no data with that projectile thus far.

You might have to Find load data for something close and work it up. You should be able to find data on a 64 or 62 grain bullet that is similar.

That's what we had talked about doing. A Co worker did have a .223 book that has load data from several manufacturers so we should be ready to go. Just gotta find a shell holder for the de-priming press.

Use this data - bullet manufacture doesn't matter! Start at the starting load and work up!

Re: Reloading Data - Winchester 63 gr. PSP

Thanks for the data. Is that from the Win/Hodg reloading site? Do I need to worry about soft point versus pointed soft point?

No! As I stated before just go form the starting load with the powder you have on hand. Hopefully you have a chrony? All reloaders should have one! Load 10 rounds with the starting load shoot them and see how they print! Do they function the action-with lock back on empty. Are they accurate enough for your needs? If they are no need to go further. If not move up a couple of tenths of a gr until you get what you want. I find most accurate /performance loads are not MAX loads but inbetween start/max.

    Example:
    63 GR. SIE SP Hodgdon Varget .224" 2.200" 24.5 3000 42,400 CUP 26.4C 3199 50,700 CUP

I actually have some of these 63 SEI's and my load with Varget is 26gr! Very accurate in MY AR's and Savage Hunter 11! Thats my load for MY firearms - it may not be your load for your firearm!

Re: Reloading Data - Winchester 63 gr. PSP

    Gunnut,

Thanks for the info. Definitely appreciated.

We do have access to a good chrony. We worked up a test batch of 55gr. SP. Checking first for proper feeding, cycling, lock bolt etc.

Next step is fine tuning that one with the chrony and then starting the 63gr. loads.

    Thanks again for the input.
